The most interesting reason for #canceling people who like cottagecore that I've seen so far, has been 'people who post about their cottagecore lifestyle dreams / idealized version of farming have no idea how hard farming really is, and therefore they're trivializing the hard work farmers do. They'd never survive on a real farm'. Because. Someone posting about wanting to go on a picnic in the countryside directly oppresses working class farmers?
#like. dude‚ chill. just block the tags for the aesthetic stuff you don't like#most of it is literally just people wishing for an escape from the life they hate by imagining something they'd love#very few people actually have the means and ability to make that dream a reality‚ so i don't understand the drama#like. actually i think the cottagecore aesthetic can be very beneficial to small farmers -#because I've seen many many posts idealizing farmers markets! more people buying directly from small farms#is great!#we don't need to tell someone 'well you'd never make it working on a real farm‚ it's hard work!' like yeah of course it is??#but tbh most beginner farmers are going to fail in the starting few years Because it's hard work and they don't have experience#and they'll need time to figure out what works in their situation and what will make them a profit#but again: most people really just want a garden or a space to relax in‚ or to make things with their hands#it's not a personal attack on farmers sdfghjkl#discourse
