The other day (more like on May 20th) I was talking with my kinda-partner (Imma just call her D on my posts) about how different the human mind works.

In my case, I’m never thinking of anything in particular. My mind is never quiet, as it’s always repeating the last thing I heard. It’s exhausting, I can never concentrate on one thing. Right now as I’m writing this I’m hearing 5 things at the same time. 1. The TV, 2. My dad talking to our pets, 3. The k-drama my mom is watching on her studio, 4. My dog’s footsteps against the floor with her nails and 5. What I’m writing right now.

While in D’s case, she has a line of thoughts—as she called it. It’s just one thought after another, always thinking of what to do next or what she did throughout the day/week/month. Of what she wants to do, of what she has to do, etc.

Both of our minds are never quiet, but in different ways. While she can stay in complete silence, I always need some sort of noise. I have this tendency of grabbing my phone, put on music (or my saved audios from TikTok), put the phone against my right ear (not the left one, always the right one) and start walking around the room. Even as I’m writing this, I have my left leg moving constantly, even while sitting with my legs crossed.

I hate it. I wish I could just be able to have my mind be silent all the time. One thought at a time. It would be way less overwhelming.
