I will own this book one day.
Oh man.
As a Cuban-American, I just gotta touch upon this for a quick second, and then I’ll shut the fuck up. Because I don’t think some users here understand who Fidel Castro actually was.
Who is at the helm of teaching you guys history or where are y’all getting your information from?
Absolutely, he started out with a dream and a plan and was a rebel leader. There was an intent, in the beginning, towards change. But the evolution of that? Is absolute insanity. I completely respect if you identify as a communist politically, but what communism did to Cuba, and the absolute damage that it continues to do to Cubans to this day, is inconceivable — please, do better. And do your research. Fidel Castro is not a hero.
And if you’re not Cuban, then take a seat.
This is real history, and on going history at that. If you don’t know what it’s like to gather as many materials as possible to send to Cuba so that your best friends sister doesn’t die because she can’t afford to eat because of the rations system put in place due to some political bastard who could care less, then don’t praise something you know absolutely nothing about and haven’t had to take part in.
I have had such a hard time wrapping my miniature skull around the images of praising Castro recently. Like what the fuck are y’all doing?
Thankfully, my family escaped right around the revolution because my grandfather was close friends with Camilo Cinfuegos, who got him a plane and hightailed out of there and hid out in Panama with his whole family: his wife, my father and his brother at the time. They then lived there for a minute in order to finally move to the States. That’s a tame story. My uncle Wilfredo’s story, and everything his father went through, even writing this always brings tears to my eyes when I think of all the times he shared everything he went through because of how much wreckage their family experienced during the revolution. It’s a fucking miracle his family not only survived, but were able to come as a family to Florida.
The absolute insanity that went behind what my uncles and other family members, and friends of those family members have had to go through to have a better life, is a thing of nightmares.
And it continues to be.
Trust me, I do NOT agree with the majority of conservative Cubans in Miami, but I understand that they tend to lean that way because of what their history consists of. I had the privilege of being first generation American and was able to choose a different direction. Surprisingly, my father is a Democrat as well.
Before you share another Castro image or join the bandwagon of what you think might be a positive rebellion, please, as someone who knows all too well about this specifically: Please do your research.
No leader has a clean history. It’s impossible when leading a country, but you know who came damn near close? The Zapotec leader of Mexico named Benito Juárez. Praise that guy.
Y’all are so weird for being against men in power on one end of the pendulum, but then praising freaks like Fidel Castro.
That is my Cuban rant of the day. Cuban-Basque at that so don’t get me started on the Spanish.
Okay, thank you lol. Fuck.
this was recorded in a chicken coop. legend.
Hell's Angels and Grim Reapers reading + research complete. What an absolute shit show. God bless the chaos of the 70s. Christ.
