It is on the 15th rewatch of this little video, these few precious moments, that Alexander feels the knot in his chest grow. It wasn’t a wedding, no, not really. They hadn’t planned that far ahead. Just something small, something they wanted to do in the spur of a beautiful moment. Pledging themselves to one another as they recorded it. Simple, sure, but they’d sent the little video to their friends. Made some cry, made some tease, but it was John and Alexander at their happiest.
That happiness hadn’t lasted. It couldn’t last. They couldn’t last.
Jack is gone now, lost to Alexander forever. A space in his memory that haunts him every waking second. Haunts his dreams, when he manages to sleep. Is is the world that has taken his Laurens from him? Was it John himself who did the damage? It doesn’t matter. He shakes those thoughts away. It doesn’t matter, it will never matter, he is alone and that is what drowns him now.
