basically in this fantasy school au, magic users have "mediums" which is the preferred object that they use in order to channel their magic. generally a magic user's magic input is proportional to their output which means that every user has a certain amount of magic they can use at a time and everyone has their limit on how much magic is stored in their body. however some people are born with a magic imbalance which can affect their magical input/output. enter hinata shoyou, wanting to enter into karasuno in order to find answers to his magical imbalance. as a child he was born with an imbalance that severely affected his body in the sense that it would start to decay if he went over the limit of his magic outputs despite the fact that he had too much magic in his body. (in short, the man is magically constipated) that leads him down the path to finding the tiny giant who was also known for a similar condition. and it just kinda goes like that.
