here's my pov on why I think jon should/will get an ending where he gets to his dream college, NYU, or at the very least, an implication that he ends up going.

and it's not even from a stancy bias.

they've been pretty suspiciously consistent on joyce's preference to will over jon, even in this season when she volunteered for him to go on the mission, in S4 she was oblivious to his struggle, in S5 they make her apologize to will for being overbearing but not to jon for her neglect (yes she does in S1, but she's not DONE much to change it)

in S4 his conflict is "I can't leave my mom and brother to chase a dream that's not mine!" and it has been that way from forever, he's made it abundantly clear that emerson is NOT his dream.

his personality was written as mom/brother first, everyone else later.

and nancy presumably not knowing that NYU was his dream, is again, clear confirmation that they've had communication issues from the very beginning.

and they have a habit of bringing back stuff from S1/2 to this season (like will's memory, castle byers, the drawing) they made joyce emphasize to lonnie that "hes wanted to go to NYU since he was a child!"

and they're not subtle with foreshadowing. now does this guarantee a no jncy endgame? well no, but I do think it's highly unlikely
