I don't think Goncharov should just be known as a "mafia film." Like, yes that's part of it. But there's so much more to it. You can juxtapose the first scene, with Andrey saying "We are rich with time" to Goncharov and the last scene, with Goncharov dying, where he tells Andrey "Time has been stolen from us." Katya's wineglass never being filled is a symbol for her general emptiness and dissatisfaction with life. Sofia wears makeup around everyone-except when she's alone with Katya. This adds to the homoerotic undertones of Sofia and Katya's interactions. Andrey looks away right before he kills Goncharov, perhaps implying he feels guilty over what he's about to do.
