Regarding Erik Deaver / "White Room" Erik Deaver
Erik is a kind, compassionate individual that chooses to see the good in people. He knows that people are not perfect and that they make mistakes - but he doesn't judge them based on a single error. He believes that people are entitled to a second chance. If they truly are sorry - they deserve a chance to make amends. He cares deeply about people, probably due to the fact that Kevin had sheltered him throughout his life. He saw his brother make sacrifices so that he could lead a 'normal' life. Hence why he became a doctor. To help people, to give them a second chance and take away the physical pain that they might be experiencing. No one is born bad when it comes to Erik. People are made worse through life due to a series of unfortunate circumstances. Erik might be naive or a hopeless romantic but he believes that everyone is capable of being happy. Not an easy road, of course... but it's possible. Sometimes all they need is a slight push towards the right direction.
His darker side ( aka his newfound split personality ) has a different view on things. Emotions are utterly pathetic, people are useless mutts unless they have some sort of utility for him. He preys on the feelings of others, manipulating them like few people ever can. He hides his intentions behind kind words and innocent smiles - when he truly doesn't give a shit about what others feel. He was born to cast aside the weak sides of his personality. Compassion is not something he feels and mercy is just some vague word in a dictionary. He enjoys inflicting pain, whether physical or mental, taking a perverse amount of joy in watching someone sabotage themselves in the most sadist of ways. Where one is peaceful and seeks to solve things with words, the other simply couldn't care less. Everyone is a piece in a much larger game - everyone has their role to fulfill and that is just about it. It to gain their loyalty means to manipulate emotions and pull the right strings... so be it. Once the deed is done, their utility becomes null and his interest is gone.

“Do I even want to know?”
Chances were probably not. Erik respected his King more than he did any normal person with the sole exception of his brother. In a land torn apart by conflict and war – few were the ones that could actually lead by example. Do and say the right things, motivating people to be the best that they could be in times of need. Which was what Alistair was. After the whole rebel mages joining the Imperium – there was even a moment where he assumed to be cast one like everyone else. Not that he took sides. What Fiona and her accomplices did had nothing to do with him ( people were suffering and needed help ) but he could understand why Alistair would want them out of there. An alliance with Tevinter? It was madness. Complete and utter madness.
But Alistair DIDN’T cast him out. He had actually pulled him aside by the arm while the Inquisition forces took the conscripted mages away, saying that he needed him to stay behind and help those in need. A neutral party that cared more about the innocents than political maneuvers of power and influence. “Was this why you wanted for me to stay?” The blond cast a glance towards the bed, a smile wanting to form on his lips despite the apostate wanting nothing more than to keep a straight face. “Were you bouncing on your bed last night? Try to reach the ceiling?” Now, he was actually smiling, shaking his head towards his King and friend. “Forgive me, my King. It’s not my place to say how HARD you can bounce on your bed. Shall I enchant it? Make it more… resistant? We never know when your… ACTIVITIES might break it again. And splinters are… bad.”
*handwritten Note for Erik* Are you aware that your brother is fucking your idol?
Well... this was... interesting? The note was obvious anonymous with no envelope or anything. Just a mere question made in the most random of ways. Kevin was fucking his idol? Which one of his idols? He had a couple and some of them were actually dead. Was Kevin having a bad catnip trip and was fucking corpses now? “Well, he’s an adult.” He can screw whoever he wanted and whenever he wanted. Wait - he already did that. Now, his idol? What an odd thing to say. Reaching for a pen, Erik did scribble underneath, placing the note back where it previously was, like one of those romcom situations.
‘So...?’

The question caught Erik off guard. His attention had been on the charts on his hand, once again checking on Alan before actually clearing him out of the hospital. The last thing he was expecting was that sort of question. Maybe the attorney was still under the effect of some medicine and he was still rather off. Erik didn’t quite know what to say. How to answer. His eyes darted back and forth between Alan and his charts, clearing his throat while trying to come up with the IDEAL response. A negative one could be disastrous but he couldn’t just say yes. A maybe, perhaps?
“I can’t exactly go on dates with my patients, Alan.” Over the last couple of days, Erik had started to call Alan by his first name other than his last. Despite the troublesome encounter, after the ground rules had been set, Alan seemed to be cooperative. Yes, Erik was required to comply every now and then but in the end? They seemed to be on a good place. A steady place that granted them some peace rather than the uncomfortable confrontation from the earlier days. “But you are about to be discharged in the next few hours.” All it was needed was his signature at the bottom of the chart and send the papers to the reception. “But why ask me for a date? I thought you DISLIKED me after keeping you here for so long.”
