to those saying they ended up writing mike to be straight--
they didnt. they wrote him to be a closeted gay man who chose fear instead of facing himself.
he didnt say i love you back. STILL.
he ended with trying not to cry while touching his and Wills dnd books. after it was delivered to his conscience that all that time ago.. telling Will "its not my fault you dont like girls, what did you think really that we'd play games in my basement for the rest of our--yadda yadda" legitimately tortured him, on top of everything else his supposed best friend has been through.
they didnt write mike as a straight man, they wrote him as a coward. and worst of all, they wrote it ambiguous enough to make people believe they wrote him to be straight, while still leaving room for bylers to think they could still get together eventually.
