"It's just me." Petra giggled softly, holding Tessa close to her, but made sure to be gentle.

"It is certainly more boring." Petra smiled gently, "and much quieter." She looked at Tessa, "How are you feeling? The little one isn't giving you much trouble is it?"

This was disheartening.

All they wanted was to go down to the convenience store to get some candy. They hadn’t realized that walking down a few blocks down a busy street would let them lose their father that easily. That was fifteen minutes ago.

They had been living in their old little house in the country for so long that the next few days in the city with their uncle would probably serve to disappoint.

Satsuki had decided to sit down with her little sister on the closest bench and wait to see if he would come back soon. At this point, she was sure he was lost, too. Nevertheless, she squeezed Mei's hand to comfort her, trying to look beyond the passersby for their father.
