The Rising Stones - Scion's Quarter's Edition

I really wanted to build something specific to some of our favorite NPCs as I navigate Odza's ARR era in NG+ and decided to try and come up with some unique touches. We see Tataru's desk (and intermittently visited by her carbuncle!), a lobby area for the Scions to meet privately, and private chambers for both Y'shtola Rhul and Thancred Waters!

Plus, with my love for Mor Dhona, I'd really give anything to try and make windows with the Gloom weather effect

I thought Tataru would definitely have comfy, "welcome hooooome" vibes in the more private spaces, so we'll see her touch spread throughout - including sweet treats that she bakes for the Scions!

Y'shtola's room is filled to the brim with books, magical components, and a bit of Matoya's influence in her aesthetic. I thought her room would be detailed, but not too cluttered. Just a bit of her latest experiment being crafted on the floor and some tea on the stove while she warms by the fire a gloomy night in Mor Dhona.

Thancred's room is... hoo boy, that man is Going Through It™. With touches of his intelligence-gathering and alcoholism, a lit cigar by the bed, and a basket of Nymeia Lilies (Minfilia hint hint) with a note, we can see Thancred is in full form in his space.

Also, I wanted to give an enthusiastic shout out to @tsunael for letting me collaborate on Thancred bedroom headcanons! I wanted to be sure I did the aesthetic justice and tsunacred is just too good not to emulate in a build lmao

Hi I think I might be going insane, my friends don't see it but I swear the darkspawn in Veilguard look extremely similar to the husks in Mass Effect? Is it just me?? Like I get that they're made by the same people but the similarities caught me off guard while I was playing and I just wanted to know if anybody else saw it too.

The very first thought I had when I saw the redesign was that it looked a lot like a husk! You're not crazy! I think it's the gauntness of the eyes and the blight/geth tech coming from the mouths in the same way

When it rings it’s a shrill disruption with no warning or compensation but a string of unanswered curiosities he’s buried save for the rings left on the kitchen table that won’t scrub off or the eerie stench that wrings his throat with unwanted flashes of what might’ve been if not for the ringing alarm bells that tell him no. Don’t. 

It rings again and Harry wrings the flannel dry and runs it over his face.

“Angel cookie is pretty nice! I hope they’re enjoying being able to fly in the kingdom! Ninja is also pretty swell, though I haven’t seen him in a while.. Muscle cookie is a bit much at times, but he’s been happier than ever in the kingdom! Beet cookie is fun to be around nowadays, even taught me a bit of archery with a smile on her face! Well, things I didn’t know already, at least. Wind archer helped me a lot with archery when we met! Anyway, Beet cookie helps lead the archers in our kingdom! Devil cookie’s a rascal, but they’re not that bad! It’s been a lot more in line now that they’re in it’s own little world. ^^”

“Clover cookie’s a sweetheart! I see him playing his guitar (or at least I think it’s a guitar..) to the animals on the border of our kingdom sometimes! Carrot cookie is a great farmer, and I appreciate all she does to help out! Avocado cookies blacksmithing is absolutely outmatched, haven’t seen a better smithy in my life! Gumball cookie is a great artist, despite his art being a bit messy at times.. Blackberry cookie was a little unnerving for a time, but she’s a lot sweeter with a big ol smile on her face! Even adventurer cookie is happier now that he’s spending so much time with her! Alchemist cookie makes great potions, cherry cookies bombs are immaculate, and pancake cookie.. Oh, he’s probably one of my closest friends besides Wizard and Strawberry! He kinda reminds me of-.. of..”

*Gingerbrave freezes up. He doesn’t say anything, doesn’t move, doesn’t even flinch when you try to reach out to him. And then, out of nowhere..*

“AHAHAH!!!”

*He comes back to reality with a jolt, laughing hysterically, before wiping the tears from his eyecings.*

“Sorry, sorry!! Now where were we??? Ah yes! Hmm.. was there anyone I’m missing…”

“Oh! Princess cookie and Knight cookie! I haven’t seen those two in a while, either.. Not since I visited the hollyberry kingdom..”

“Actually, that reminds me! I need to visit it again. There’s still things that need to be done! :)”

HEIKAZU WOULD LOVE THE GASTRONOMY. I CAN SEE THEM VISITING RESTAURANTS!

Options for the start of the trip:

Option A: Sonoko convinces everyone because she wants an “exotic” destination full of photo opportunities to show off.

Option B: Ran wins a travel raffle for several people and decides to invite her friends.

Initial dynamics:

Makoto carries all of Sonoko's luggage without complaining, even though she has three huge suitcases for just one week.

Sonoko looks at him as if he were her personal hero, boasting about having her “private knight.”

Sonoko insists on taking selfies at every turn.

Kazuha gets excited trying the local food.

Shinichi pays more attention to Ran than to the tourist sights.

The mystery begins:

That same night, the archaeologist mysteriously disappears.

It is also reported that the newly discovered artifact has been stolen.

Rumors arise of an “Inca curse” that affects those who touch the relics.

The group decides to investigate, with Shinichi and Heiji in charge.

A clue leads them deep into the Amazon rainforest, leaving the tourist trail behind and entering dangerous territory.

Adventures in the jungle:

The group gets lost in the middle of the jungle.

They try to set up a makeshift shelter.

Shinichi and Ran end up sharing a blanket (exchanging glances and blushing 👀).

At the campfire at night, the girls talk:

Ran defends Shinichi as a detective and a person.

Kazuha blushes when talking about Heiji.

Aoko denies that she likes Kaito.

Sonoko openly brags about Makoto.

Ran falls asleep on Shinichi's shoulder; he smiles tenderly.

Key moments:

At a river crossing with a makeshift vine, Shinichi almost falls and Ran holds him up → cliché but tender scene.

Kazuha hurts her foot → Heiji carries her on his back while they argue the whole way. Heiji and Kazuha argue about a clue, but in the end Kazuha finds the key → Heiji hugs her excitedly, she blushes.

Aoko almost falls into a trap, Kaito saves her with a spectacular trick → she hugs him with tears in her eyes, although she later scolds him when he pretends to stagger on a suspension bridge.

Makoto saves Sonoko from a dangerous trap → Sonoko, excited, kisses him in front of everyone → the group reacts with shouts and jokes.

Climax:

They find a hidden ruin where the criminals plan to smuggle the stolen relics.

They discover that the “Inca curse” was just a cover for smuggling.

Shinichi and Heiji work together to solve the case and confront the culprits.

Kaito, in Kid mode, makes a spectacular move to distract the criminals and give the group an advantage.

Ending:

Those responsible for the smuggling are arrested.

The archaeologist appears: he had been kidnapped as part of the plan.

The group manages to get out of the jungle safely. The ending has an air of “this vacation was not what we expected.”
