" she says quickly, stripping off her lab coat and folding it over her arm before she's letting her hair down from the clip that had been holding it back. " we'll go back to my place, change, then we'll find the nearest bar. play some pool, have some drinks and bring in the new year. "

lexie licks her lips, trying to fight her grin from the fact that he was even here in the first place. " i would also be willing for a new year's night in with a few cold ones and movies. " she relents, know large crowds didn't make the man all that comfortable. supposed that's what happened when someone was so used to scouting out security risks. made it hard to keep things safe with so many variables.

at least .. that was her assumption here. " come on, handsome. let's go before someone decides they need me. leave here on a good note. " she laughs softly, snagging his hand and pulling him off towards her car in the lot. lexie turns back to him, walking backwards with brightened happiness glowing on her features. he had been quite the surprise, " food? HE WASN'T WRONG ABOUT THAT ONE. THERE was always something else. always something that would come next. there may be a small break at some point, but one way or another it was back into the fray of things to sort out the next problem. much like a thrill, it was a sweet addiction that couldn't be denied. even zatanna could agree on that matter. if he wasn't going to do the things he did so dangerously well, then who the hell would? suppose it was one dangerous road to walk but he did it so well.

" some things will never change, john. " she tells him, shaking her head a bit but whatever was pressing her wasn't going to let up. with a heavy sigh she stops her pacing and opens her eyes to a grayed out surrounding that certainly was not her bedroom. seemed she needed to get the wards around her space redone. help. us. ghostly whispers take her through a wooded area that was being blanketed in darkness. " you have to tell me how. " she whispers to them, spinning around as she heard ... wings? no that couldn't be right.

" what is? what's coming? " she questions quickly, only for ghostly screams to pierce her ears causing her to cringe. ears are covered quickly, eyes squeezed shut until she managed to finally pull herself out of it with a gasp. blue hues wide as she blinked them quickly to get her bearings.

OCEAN COLORED HUES BLINK IN A REPITITOUS manner, almost certain that she couldn’t have heard him right. he didn’t bother with questioning her or asking her to prove it in some ridiculous manner. although there had certainly been a few times that she’d known or said something that she shouldn’t have known. where she had to leave a certain place, or began to zone out a bit because there was too much coming at her. a bigger surprise than anything was that he helped center her, even with the lightest touch the entire world around her became a bit more quiet and peaceful. she felt less drained and pulled at whenever he was with her.  “  you believe me? you’re not going to question it or ... ask for some sort of proof?  ”  she whispers softly, disbelief clear in her tone as her hands fidget with each other.

THERE WAS A PART OF HER THAT knew better than to think she was here to catch up and reminisce. was there really such a thing when it came to Jay? zatanna didn't think so, she was too certain that anything real or serious would surely be the end for her. no matter how many times zatanna put up the fight or argument that it wasn't the case -- there were too many things in her lover's past that was working against her. too many scars that jay kept locked away.

" great, dinner. " she offers on a long breath, her things are grabbed before she's leading the way out of her theater and onto the darkened sidewalk. " think we could get a few good burgers right down this way.. " it didn't take long to get there, which meant they were being sat down in a corner booth just a few moments later. zatanna leans back with arms folded over her chest, " what's going on? "

CLEAR CONFUSION IS WRITTEN ON HER FEATURES, wondering just how and why he could ever confuse something like this. although perhaps it really was a coincidence. the papers were always featuring the billionaire as partying a bit too hard with whatever arm candy he had picked out for the night. the whole scenario would have likely been easier to disregard if he didn't look like a hurt puppy dog in that moment. she gives a slow nod of her head, " right .. well, sorry i couldn't be of more help. hopefully you figure it out but .. i'm sorry i have to go. something is wrong with a prop for my show and i'm hoping the stage hand can fix it. not much of your problem but .. if i don't put a bit of elbow grease into it, i might be met with a crowd riot. never fun. " she offers with a light chuckle, " if only i had real magic to fix it on a whim. have a good night mister wayne. " zatanna gives a small wave before she steps back and shuts her door.

HER BROW ARCHES A BIT AT that, blatantly ignoring the way her heart was flipping in her chest. There was a very clear reason here that wasn't being voiced out loud, but she could read between the lines. It seemed that Frank had a bit of a savior complex when it came to her. Or perhaps it was merely the one thing between them that neither one of them wanted to put into real words for each other.

She tucks a stray strand of blond hair behind her ear, " hope that delayed start to your getaway isn't because of yours truly or the recent news drop that has the city buzzing. " If there was one thing that the people of Hell's Kitchen didn't want, it was the Punisher running around once more. All he was doing here was putting his freedom at risk.
