I’m honestly not a huge fan of revenge narratives. I tend to enjoy them best when the stories resolved in a non-violent way, because I do believe in at least mercy, if not forgiveness. A good story that basically just resolves by saying “an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind” is usually where I’d stop.
That being said, from the same oc writer who gave you hit story arcs like: “asexual writes a character who’s solution to his lack of control and agency in his life is to get leagues hornier” I bring you: “a writer who hates violent revenge narrative writes a character trapped in the cycle of violence and instead of escaping it he instead tragically brings himself to accept the role he’s always had to play in the world. He then proceeds to use the callous, violent nature he was raised into for his own means to kill his father, the perpetuator of said cycle of violence in his, and many others lives.”
