—- &. Kang Mika had taken a lot of steps to get to where she was. Emotionally and physically. After a mostly tragic childhood and a struggle to get into college, she had worked non-stop during her first two semesters to be able to afford a halfway decent apartment where she could keep her plants and books and her pet cat, Totoro, without being bothered by the outside world as she studied to get a better life. Despite all of the hardships that she had been through, she still remained the positive bubbly child that her older brothers had raised. Though, she was a bit awkward (saying hi too loud and too enthusiastically, being overly happy about the littlest of things, and giggling long after everyone else had finished laughing), she managed to make friends with those older than her easy enough. It was the optimism, she was sure of it. Her attitude combined with a smile so bright that even the sun would need a pair of shades was what drew people outside of her age group to her. If it was kids, the younger ones always liked being bounced on her lap and being made to giggle by her tickles. If it was the elderly, the happiness in youth was refreshing compared to the common drab of the modern young person.
Mika, however, considered herself far from happy and far from a rainbow but she continued on portraying herself that way. Now, though, the happy and joyful portrait broke easily. All she’d worked for was falling apart because of a water leak. One that hadn’t even been her fault. Now, she wasn’t bubbly or giggly, she was just desperate pounding on the door of the landlord,. ❝Mister Cho, please! Please, you cant do this!! I’ve got nowhere to go! Me and Totoro have nowhere to go!! If not for me then for the cat, please!!❞ She begged finally breaking down as her last words cracked, the ca she spoke of sitting at her feet and looking up at her in dismay. She slumped against the door pulling her knees up to her chest as she sobbed. It was only a few moments before the elevator doors opened and she looked up to see them holding their rent envelope. She felt a little pathetic now, and wiped the corner of her eyes huffing quietly. She quickly stood up brushing herself off. ❝ I, uh, you can knock but I’m not so sure that he’ll answer, now. I might have annoyed him. ❝ She tried desperately to play it off with a crooked smile, even though, she knew they’d never take that.
