Dorcas thunked the record player down on a corner of the picnic blanket. A breeze was rolling off the surface of the Lake, but it was warm enough that it didn’t much matter — in any case, she dressed like it was summer no matter the season. But summer was soon, the real summer; just the thought of it put an extra flourish in her gesture as she dropped the needle on "Bad Girls.”
“I wish my boombox worked here. This Hogwarts interfering with electronics thing is bullshit.”

“I swear living here isn’t usually like this,” Alaric said as he watched aurors tromp in and out of a shop, talking to the owner and making sure that whatever tunnel they’d found below was sealed up. It didn’t seem to matter where the tunnels lead, if they were simply from a shop to a home or out in the middle of nowhere for a quick escape, it seemed as though everything was being investigated and closed up.
“They should be done soon and then things will be peaceful. Are you enjoying your new house?” He asked, pleased to have Remus as a neighbor. They usually got along from their previous encounters, so it was nice knowing that there would be another friendly acquaintance nearby in Hogsmeade. Not that Alaric was without friends, he met up regularly with the spouses of other professors, which was pleasant.
“Some shops have been closed temporarily for the search, but Honeydukes is open, so at least you won’t need to worry about any sweet cravings,” He commented, recalling a discussion with Remus about chocolate and chocolate frog cards once. In fact, he thought that had been Halloween in Hogsmeade the year before last. What a long time ago that was, although it didn’t really seem like it. @remuslxpns
“Do you think there’s a list at the store, like of recommended supplies and shi- stuff.” Zephyr said, barely managed to catch himself before swearing and shaking his head. While there were sure to be issues in the future, things like upset tummies and sleepless nights and whatever else happened with babies, right then Zephyr’s biggest problem seemed to be watching his damned mouth.
Shifting Katie from one arm to the other, Zephyr pressed his hand to the curve of Katie’s pudgy cheek and hoped she was warm enough, his worries smoothed over when Katie gave a wide, gummy smile. Or they did until a thought hit him. “Fuck, when is she going to start teething?”
And there he went with the language again... Remus was absolutely going to be the better parent and Zephyr juggled Katie a bit as he reached out for the handle of the door to pull it open. “Okay, first thing first. A stroller. And no, she wasn’t too heavy, so don’t start.” @remuslxpns
