The moment a hounds training begins they are CONSTANTLY under the influence of a variety of stimulants and other various drugs, the purpose of which varies. Some reduce a hounds sensitivity so they dont try and scratch out their new implants.

Others may increase their sensitivity, useful when a hound needs to be reminded what awaits for it if it fails. But such drugs are usually reserved for use durring a hounds initial conditioning, or as a punishment.

Although some handlers opt to use them as a reward for good behavior, which isn't allowed but its not like anyone's gonna stop em.

But there is one medication that must ALWAYS be in a hounds system.

OH also. still sort of touching on the annabeth and her emotions thing

i also have this headcanon that with audhd annabeth + heightened owl senses but namely hearing, annabeth grew up in a house with two tiny newborns and a (step)mom who is pulled thin trying to care for these babies and frederick who is typically holed up in his office but he does come out to help mrs chase with bobby and matthew on occasion. however. annabeth is quickly overstimulated by the screeching babies and so she starts to have a meltdown and also starts crying but frederick and mrs chase are too stressed with the twins so they never soothe annabeth and, in classic stressed parent fashion, they just brush her off and force her to go to her room or to go outside if she's going to be screaming like that. so little annabeth is forced to go hide in her closet, rocking back and forth as she self soothes and she never receives that emotional care and validation in the home

Her knowing that her new siblings are newborns but they’re still so loud and she really just wants her ears to stop ringing but all the adults just say it’s not that bad and she should stop complaining when her parents are already having a hard time. She can recognize that they need more help than she does but doesnt she deserve at least some care? (I also hc that she has a heavy dose of only child syndrome bc from their age gap it really seems like they had the twins soon after getting married which is a big jump to like a 5 year old who’s only knows it’s been her and her father for years)
