I’m gonna use a feather for this word. First is ‘T’… Hey, I didn’t say you could put your arms back down! Don’t make me pin them. Oh yeah! Next letter is ‘I’… and yeah, I’m taking my time with these letters. ‘C’… oh, I’m gonna have fun with this K. Going alllllll the way down your side for the first line. Then I gotta go from one side to the other for the other two. This word really suits you, yknow. ‘L’… ‘I’… ‘S’… making that S super wide so I get every bit of your tummy. Last letter! All the way down one side for the first line, all the way down the other side, then a nice (wiggly) line horizontally across your tummy for the last line. ‘H’!

Aw, you’re all blushy! Hey, that gave me a good idea for the next word. I’m gonna use the feather again, but while giving your neck some attention. You can put your arms down now, but look up for me. Thank yooouuuuuu! Starting on the left side (your right side…?), ‘P’… oh my god, you’re giggling so much, it’s adorable! ‘I’… ‘N’… ‘K’! Really suits your face, and your ears! Oh, and your whole blog! Is that why your blog is pink? Because it represents your blushy little self?

Speaking of ears… what if I gently swirled this feather all around and in your ear? Oh, that sounds like a great idea! Left ear first! Aw, there are the giggles! Swirly swiirrrllll. Right ear now! Tickle tickle tickle tickle!

The scent of coffee fills the tiny corner cafe where Seokmin stands behind the counter, apron tied haphazardly and flour smudged on his cheek. He’s talking with a customer, that usual bright smile on his face, but there’s a flicker of something underneath—something distant.

You step in quietly, the little bell above the door ringing. You didn’t plan this. You didn’t think you’d walk into his cafe. But the universe plays cruel jokes, especially on people still holding onto past loves.

He looks up—and freezes.

His eyes widen just a little before they soften. His smile doesn’t quite reach his eyes, but it’s still kind. “…You.”

“Hi, Seokmin.”

Your voice is quieter than you expected. You thought you’d be ready. You weren’t.

Flashback

You and Seokmin, tangled under the stars on his rooftop, shared dreams like secrets. Late-night food runs, messy karaoke duets, promises whispered between kisses.

But dreams faded. Careers got in the way. Your world moved fast, and his stayed still. One tearful night, you let go of each other.

Or so you thought.

Back in the Present

He brings you your drink personally. You thank him, fingers brushing for a second too long. The silence between you is heavy—not awkward, just filled with things unsaid.

You finally break it. “You really opened the cafe.”

He nods. “It kept me sane… after.”

You know what “after” means. After you. After everything.

“I still check your socials sometimes,” he says suddenly, eyes focused on the counter. “I know I shouldn’t.”

You swallow. “I still wear the ring.”

The one he gave you, not for marriage, but for staying. For believing. It’s worn and small, hidden under your sleeve—but still there.

“I wrote a song,” he whispers. “It’s not out. It’s just… for me. For you. Still you.”

You look up, tears stinging.

“Do you wanna hear it?”

Later, in the quiet of the closed cafe.

He sings softly, fingers trembling on the guitar. The lyrics ache. Your name isn’t in them, but your memory lingers in every note. Your eyes blur, not because it’s sad—because it’s beautiful.

And because some part of you never stopped loving him.

Outside, under the same sky you once lay beneath, you hold hands again—hesitant, but real.

“I don’t know if we can go back,” you say.

“I don’t want to go back,” Seokmin replies. “I just… want to move forward. With you. If you still want me.”

You smile.

“I never stopped.”
