has any magic affected your character?
Not magic specifically, but he was mutated by some material left over by Venom, which seeped into a wound. This gives him all of the same powers of a symbiote (as well as all the weaknesses) without him being an alien himself.

Currently Cletus is without the knowledge and power of his symbiote-self, as it is locked inside of his mind along with all of his old memories.
