this guy seemed to know what he was talking about. he wondered how many people in dc were experiencing something similar. it wasn't as though he went around inquiring about everyone's life stories , though. “ i was managing to avoid mine for a pretty decent chunk of time. unfortunately , that just isn't the case anymore. i suppose i shouldn't be surprised. it was foolish of me to think i could keep running forever. i can understand it to some extent. dc has sort of made it ... impossible to avoid certain people and things. ” he played it safe , just in case they weren't entirely on the same page.
"I'm sorry it didn't work out for you." It was a testament to how little he knew that he would say that—his sympathies would have been much more guarded with the information that Nolan had been among his most hated enemies. But he was human now. That was something he wouldn't have been able to ignore. "I know what it's like to be disappointed with how things have gone... and the company you have to deal with." Hearing Elijah was still alive had devastated him. Still did! He took another sip to compensate. "This city has a way of doing that."
“ that feels like an understatement , ” he muttered. “ it feels overwhelming most days. ” dc had been a lot to take in. he still had so much to see , and he continued to struggle with feeling like he fit in. “ i'm not from here. i'm from new orleans. i don't know what i'm doing half the time. ” he couldn't just admit that he'd been dead to a complete stranger , though. the man might think he was crazy or something. “ i like fruity tasting beverages , ” he said , shrugging. “ anything ... sweet , i guess. ”
Hearing about New Orleans instantly had his smile faltering, although Aslan tried his best to right his expression. There was nothing but death in that city for him. Was it possible that Atticus here had found that similarly? It wasn't unlikely enough to curb his nausea—he looked so young, perhaps college-aged. "I don't think anyone knows what they're doing half the time. Maybe even more." As he spoke, inwardly Aslan debated his curiosity. Should he have offered any information about himself? Inquired as to any more of theirs? "I'm from around there, myself. Been a long time now. I'll be right back with your drink." He returned with a tall, but thin, glass full of layered, multicolored liquid. "Tell me what you think of this. It's a fruit mix with a few different complementing liquors—but you won't taste any of that."

"you'd think that people wouldn't be stupid," he paused, head shaking slightly as they watched the two men wrestle around on the ground. "but then again, it does make for great entertainment,"
Offering an encouraging woop! as one of the men smashed his forehead into his adversary's nose. Now this was what it was all about! Unrestrained summer fun just wasn't the same without a touch of violence. What a wonderful crunch! "That's where I disagree. I know people is that dumb," he laughed, face split into a wide grin. "C'mon, betcha on the winner?"

eros had sensed their friend before he'd even seen them - drake had been his friend for a long time and one who had followed them once he'd left the temple. "look what the gundark dragged in," eros grinned. his friend was changed - but they'd know their force signature anywhere.
A light that hadn't flickered in his eyes since he arrived finally ignited. Eros. The pair had been through hell together once before... if there was anyone who could lead him through it now, it was them. "I'm wishing I was right about now. I'd rather the gundrak than..." With lips he hadn't used to possess, he frowned. "All of this. I'm glad you recognized me. I wasn't sure you would. It's all so... strange."
"and no one is meant to notice me either." except those they were there to aid, but that was a different story altogether, and a difference they didn't care to describe to this stranger. "so everything is mostly as it should be." barring their error in thinking that no one would notice them here without going to the effort of concealing themself. "business that is of no relevance to mortals. but you can do as you please, strike all you want, i am of no connection to this place, it doesn't affect me."
"Common mistake. Can't fool someone like me—I notice everything." Of course that didn't include beings literally capable of becoming incorporeal... but he didn't know those kinds of beings existed yet. Couldn't account for what you didn't know, could you? Maybe he should have. That was his common mistake. "Ya keep usin' that word. Mortal. Ya think you're so different? There's a good sayin' I love that's never failed me so far. Relevant to our very location, if ya can believe it—if it can bleed, it can die! Last I checked we all bleed red, don't we?" Irritatingly casual, he nudged at them with his elbow. "Besides, I think ya wouldn't be so happy with trash all over. They'd shut the place down. Or maybe you're just the kind'a feller who goes right on to the next one."

“i do not understand why this has happened.” the former dragon huffed. she barred her teeth slightly despite it looking pathetic given her human form. “i have never seen anything like this.” what sort of magic was this? could someone's signet have achieved this? it didn't make any sense. “why would anyone want to look like this? to be human?” andarna shook her head in annoyance.
"Your guess is as good as mine." It felt like there was nothing to understand, that the mechanisms of this place wouldn't have made sense to any living thing. Was it possible there was something divine at stake? How could it have been stronger than the Scorekeeper? May she forgive him for even the thought! "What were you taken from? Are you from another galaxy, too?"
Esra moved closer to him, wrapping an arm around his shoulder and resting her forehead against his temple. She could never love him in the way he truly wanted, they both knew this, but there was a comfort between them after have been together for so long. He was her best friend. Maybe it was the guilt of stealing him away from someone who could truly return his love and affections, but she could never bring herself to leave him. Even now, she could be free if she chose, but she couldn't. He stood by her side through everything. He died for her. The least she owed him was to return the favor of staying with him. "We did. Our whole coven was slaughtered by that monster." Esra sighed, moving her free hand to his and caressing it slightly. "I'm sorry I let him hurt you."
Esra was his greatest comfort, the only person he could have counted on when it came time to accept the worst. As long as she was here with him, as long as she still cared for him, he could find a way to release himself from the great burden of his death. Failed. How could they have failed? Not just failed—been torn apart by the very same monster they had been trying to rid from the world. To know that they were here with them didn't encourage him... but maybe there was the possibility of a second try. Could that have been the purpose of their resurrection? It was something he would have to investigate. "This isn't your fault, beloved." Aslan hoped that he could reassure her of that, if nothing else. "I blame the monster that did the slaughtering." He took a long, deep breath before he spoke again. "And our... our children? Are they... were they..?" It was almost impossible for him to say the words, to think they had suffered the same fate. Justice wasn't enough for him anymore; he wanted revenge, too.
"no, definitely not." she shakes her head, looking the small creature over. "definitely wild, or abandoned for a decent amount of time." it's fur was dirty, and not maintained in any way that would indicate someone caring for it.
"Oh." Holding the little animal out, he suggested, "Do you want to take it back? I don't know if where I found it was a good place for an animal to be. It seemed dirty." After a pause, he asked, "...How are you supposed to tell the difference? Between a pet and not?"

"this place is sooooo boring," jester let out a dramatic sigh. "so much for all of the cool things that people have said they've seen, I don't see any of it," she paused. "what a bunch of liars, I've had more excitement just walking home,"
Drax made a face, displeased. "What were you expecting to happen? A rancor to show up and tear everyone apart? It's just a city." One that he happened to be stuck in, but still just a city. He would figure out its secrets and then he would break free—it was only a matter of time. "Cities are the same everywhere."

"sorry-" nesta blinked a few times as she looked at the other, lowering the book she'd been too busy reading. "did you say something?" she hadn't been paying attention to anything other than her book.
"Me? No, I was just looking at the back of your book." The idea of putting data to a physical object, especially plant matter, was still an intriguing idea. And definitely something that he had fallen asleep to as far as subject matters went more than once... but how was he supposed to know it would be relevant to him someday? "I've never read that one before. It sounds a little... strange."
"I guess you got me beat there. Yeah, I am not from space." Erica hummed, giving a nod. "So, it can take folks from different galaxies and shit?! This is some weird shit, right? Like, I'm not wrong for being freaked out about this."
"I guess so. I don't know how it all works." And even though he'd been trying, Drax had gotten absolutely nowhere. "I was freaked out at first. Now I'm just pissed off." At least that was something he was familiar with... as opposed to almost everything else. "I keep hoping I'll wake up and find it was all just a stupid nightmare."
" Should have known that your language would be booze , man . " But Garrett was laughing all the same . The thing was that he didn't really get along with older male figures , for obvious reasons , but this was a surprise . Cletus was not only someone that he had met , but he already looked up to him . Considered him a friend , even . " You know what ? Normally , I'd say no , but coach benched me for the next couple of games , because of my attitude , " Garrett made a mocking voice , giving a roll of his eyes . Even if he didn't show it , he was annoyed . " So I can drink all I want without feeling bad and that I'll end up playing like shit . " Garrett grinned . " I wouldn't be surprised if she liked the spicy stuff . And that's all I'll say in the matter . " He was trying to show that he wanted more than just that , but he couldn't deny Kendall was amazing in whatever she did . Even that . " Beer run it is ! And what do you know about old movies ? " But he was smiling all the way .
"What can I say? Where I come from, there ain't much else to do!" Not that he really knew much of that, with his memories all out of whack. A lot of what he said was based on the vibe of what felt right... whether that was accurate was another matter entirely. In this case, it kind of was. Cletus had always managed to find ways to occupy himself and drinking had not even been among his top five. That was then. This was now! "An' I reckon if that coach of yours ain't gonna be reasonable, it's time to be unreasonable right back." Clapping them on the shoulder instead of the back—probably only marginally better—he continued, "I'm old, ain't I? Don't write me off so quick. But first, I want a beer. Nothin' warms ya up faster. Come on, show me ya favorite hole in the wall and we'll get her going somethin' special."
turning at the sound of her name and the familiar presence in the force, kore smiles faintly. "of course i do, draxxen. it seems we've both been transformed by this place." though at least her horns remained, her coloring had been changed to a more human appearance. how boring.
"Yes... some more than others." He could imagine that she was disappointed, but the horns upon her head only filled him with a deep envy. He hoped that he could channel it and with the force, perhaps undo the horrible change that he'd undergone. "What happened? Are the others here, too? Where's... have you spoken to Eros?"
she shrugged her shoulders. “people will find something to complain about, even if there is nothing wrong. if i had a chef? there would be something on the menu they want but we don't have or something not on the menu that they expect us to do.” jo was used to dealing with disgruntled customers but it was refreshing to have a nice one. “whiskey it is.” she nodded, moving to grab the bottle and pour him some. jo nodded her head. “sure do. i've even been known to take an IOU before now when people have first arrived in the city. i know this place can be overwhelming.”
"True enough." Some things didn't change from one world to the next... but way too many things. It seemed like too often it was none of the things he enjoyed about offworlding, either. The Sith weren't exactly poster children for good company but they had earned his respect in other ways. Who would have thought that he would ever be a better customer than a human? The empire would have balked at such a notion... but so would have he. Just not for the same reasons. "...So you're stuck here too, then?" Some of the tension in his shoulders seemed to release. "...Overwhelming is an understatement."

"is this all new for you?" josie asked, curious how much the other knew and how much she could reveal without completely freaking them out. not that everyone needed to know the whole witch/vampire thing but having more people to talk about their experiences here was just intriguing for her. and maybe she could help some people too.
"Hmmm..." Kicking his feet as he sat, Cletus shrugged. "Guess it depends on what ya mean by that, don't it? New to this city? Kinda. Been here a few years or so. New to this life? Not so much. I been around the block once or twice, I reckon." Chuckling, he added, "Or maybe you don't mean any o' that at all. Care to offer some illumination on the subject?"

"i just want to test a thing out. it shouldn't like hurt you or anything- but i haven't done this spell in a while so who knows what'll happen. want to come with?" they offered to the other as they walked up then gestured to the little spell book they held. their own they had created as a kid.
Confused, Ax furrowed his brows. "Okay, sure. I don't get why spelling would hurt me, though." Maybe they were worried they might give him a headache. No need. He was perfectly capable of understanding quite a good many languages—words and letters weren't only an Earthly invention, after all. "Are you a... um..." Snapping his fingers, he tried to summon the word. Yeah, okay... maybe he wasn't as good as he thought. "A writer! Yeah, one of those?"
