The fact that Gojo considers Nanami a reliable person on the basis that he was an office worker amuses me to no end... Like, has Gojo actually stepped foot in an office environment long enough to see what kind of shenanigans and weird dynamics are in place most of the time? I imagine that in Japan things are way more strict so it actually tells something about the character of a person... But like... "He was well-behaved and normal-passing enough to be hired in an office!" ... Sorcerers standards are in the gutter... 😶
The fact that Kento claims to have faith in Satoru... 🥺 Nevermind that he then says he doesn't respect him. 🤣
It's so weird that Nanami already feels way more human than Gojo, with whom we spent more time together. And I mean, it's even weirder if you think we're talking about curt and detached Nanami, that considers rambling saying two concepts in a row unprompted. More on this later!!
This choosing the way to die is starting to sound like an obsession curse more than anything atp...
And him trying to gain Nanami's approval is so sweet. ❤️
I wondered about how Gojo broke the news about Yuji to Nanami since chapter one actually... 🤭
*Gojo incoming call 📲*
Nanami: 🙄😒
Nanami: What is it? 🤨
Gojo: Nanami! I thought I'd let you know I have a new student under my wing. I'd need you to accompany him on a mission and watch over him for me while I'm away.
Nanami: Fine.
Gojo: Great! Oh yeah, you should probably know that this kid ate a couple of Sukuna's fingers and didn't die, he actually turned out to be able to fully contain him and also has superhuman strenght! And atm everybody thinks he's dead!
Nanami: 😐😐😐😐😐
Gojo: Isn't that amazing? 😃 So, anyway, he's a perfectly well-behaved kid and you two will get along just fine, I'm sure of it! So, can you pick him up tomorrow morning at the institute? 😊
Nanami: 🙄😒 Yes.
Gojo: I knew I could count on you! Bye Nanami ~
Nanami: 🫥😦😧🫨🤯🥃😮💨🥃😮💨🥃😮💨🥃😮💨🥃😮💨
His reasoning for what makes you become an adult is... Interesting? Here, let me add some of my little grown up anguishes too:
Defrosting the freezer at 7 am on a saturday;
Buying for 5 times in a row frozen lasagnas and getting the same cashier thus feeling super self-conscious about for it;
Losing time while looking like an idiot in a store where they rearranged the products disposition
<- looking like this
Yeah, he has a point. 🥲
So spilling the beans on one's own technique is a "universal" pact? Like, between the sorcerer and... The magic system? That's interesting...
We have a training flashback!! I'm so glad! 💖 Love the fact that Gojo turns a flaw into something special and claims it's an amazing weapon... He boosts Yuji's morale up like this! For someone who claims not to be cut to be a teacher he is faring pretty well actually <333 (Also I find lowkey hilarious that Gege felt the need to specify that it was Gojo because he was wearing a different outfit...)
Nanami analizing Yuji's technique from afar, assessing it with such a clinical eye is kinda scary... And him admitting he can see why Gojo took him in, thus recognizing Yuji's potential as a sorcerer... <3
Even if Nanami says he doesn't respect him, he still refers to him as Gojo-san even if he is not present. 💝 (As far as I know he also did this with Geto in 0... Such a nice well-mannered kohai. 😌)
Honestly jail for Gege for making the "curse" that Yuji was fighting cry...
Like... Unnecessary! 😭😣
And Shoko taking the time to reassure Yuji he's not responsible for the deaths of the two human curses? Omg??? (I wonder if it's actually true tho...)
The fact that Nanami is impressed by Yuji's empathy <333 and then saying "Let's do this." as a clear callback to what Yuji said at the beginning of their mission signaling he is starting to warm up to him ></ ♡
(Kyuubi mentioned. 🦊)
So you are telling me that sorcerers don't know about the existence of special grade potential spirits that spawn from humanity's fear for natural disasters and such?? How???
And I have an awful feeling about Mahito, being born from the hate between humans... So he was kind of summoned by the kid in the theater? 🤔
So, speaking of Nanami and the way he feels more human than Gojo, here's what we know abut him from just these two chapters:
He's a very direct and no-nonsense guy, that still verbalizes a lot of his internal thoughts and beliefs.
We know he is deemed a dependable and thrustworthy man because Gojo calls him to look after his new precious protégé.
Why the heck did he thought being a sorcerer is a lesser evil than having a normal life beats me right now... Still says someting about him. (In other translations he says "I chose what I was more suited for." actually...) 🤔
He follows the rules even though he disagrees with the higher-ups (so he has a BIG thing in common with Gojo...)
The fact that he makes it clear he doesn't approve of Yuji's place in the Jujutsu world but in two chapters has already started to change his mind about him, and not only because of his potential talent as a sorcerer imo.
He claims he doesn't praise nor insult people but only states the truth and that he thought that society did the same... That's a very bitter statement. 😬
"I'm an adult and you are a child. I have an obligation to look after you."
Do you think he wished someone said this to him back when he was a child? Do you think he is projecting the loss of Haibara this way, ensuring that no other kid dies now that he can avoid it? Do you think he was just being condescending and I should stop asking questions? 🥲
He's strong af, capable, level-headed and his ratio technique rocks.
He's very perceptive and analytical.
He's extremely formal and refers to his senpai's (a curse user and a guy he openly admits he doesn't respect) with the appropriate onorifics even when they are not present.
Yuji's empathy made an impression on him.
(Yeah, I think he's a softie underneath that very stoic exterior.)
A stray question: Nanami operates outside the institute in an indipendent way, and he seems pretty much ok with helping Gojo here, but like... Yuji is technically dead, isn't it a bit risky to let him wander about? I know Tokyo is big but still... And Nanami said he doesn't see eye to eye with Gojo and that he follows the rules regardless of the fact he doesn't like how things are run but is ok with all of this? 🤔
