@hauntgraps one notices the other’s dating profile and feels irrationally territorial.
it’s a late night after a show, everybody’s getting ready to leave but robbie’s still hanging around a little later, scrambling to get his things together. he’s tired and worn out, so he opts for going back to his hotel instead of going out and wasting the remainder of the night away. on the cab ride back he’s mindlessly scrolling through his phone, doing the usual going in and out of every app that he’s got downloaded. tinder is the same old — robbie’s got no luck with dating, he’s not even quite sure if he’s interested in that yet, but giving someone attention is always nice.
in his half sluggish state, robbie suddenly sits upright upon seeing a familiar face on his screen. samara. what’s she doing here? robbie feels a strange sensation, why does he even care? without even thinking about it he scrolls through her profile, reading all the little tidbits, finding himself smiling at a photo or two. he wasn’t even aware that these feelings were a thing — sure, she was pretty [ . . . ] she’s so pretty — but he didn’t think that there was anything lingering until now. now he’s thinking about all of the other people that see her profile and probably try take her out somewhere nice, he’s feeling oddly protective over someone that probably doesn’t see him like that. robbie’s jaw clenches, he shoves his phone away and acts like it never happened
a day or so later there’s another show and robbie can’t get the dating profile out of his head. it’s driving him insane and he doesn’t know why, eventually, and inevitably samara and himself cross paths. robbie catches her attention and it’s all casual conversation back and fourth, until eventually he drops in some sudden critique towards dating apps and how useless they are “ dating’s just not the same anymore y’know? people never meet each other properly— it’s always through a bloody screen or something ” he’s not wrong — but also it’s probably an odd thing to bring up all of a sudden “ i think i just have a bit of bad luck ”
