Fanfic Tropes: Soulmates | Hurt/No Comfort | Everybody Lives AUs? 👀✨️

Soulmates: A++++!! Hello, I am so fucking weak for this trope dskfjhdsfjl. Romantic, finding each other through multiple lifetimes and universes?? Beautiful. My one and only love, till death do we part? Magnificent~ Platonic soulmates who are each other’s ride-or-die, who never fell for the other romantically but love them beyond what can be put into words? Crying tbh.

And unwilling soulmates?? Especially where one half is completely for it but the other is so repulsed by the very idea that seeing their soulmate gives them anxiety, fury and physical illness? (Julian/Sloan, anyone?) GIVE IT TO ME.

Hurt/No Comfort: C. It’s something I have to be in particular mood for and there are pairings/characters where I will nope out if I see it in the tags. But a well written hurt/no comfort fic that rips my heart out and smacks it against the wall?? My God.

Everyone Lives AU: A+++++! Screaming, crying, throwing up tbh. Given that so much of my favourite media ends with at least one character dying/being ‘lost’ forever/etc, this trope is a godsend. Particularly for stuff like YGO and DS9 where some of the deaths were completely unwarranted hdkshfkl.

The most Mother to have ever Mothered, served so much cunt she had to be written out of the story otherwise she would have either ascended the Throne of Egypt or would have ended up fighting Horakhaty to see who became the Supreme Mother~ (And if I see another K@iba stan say she's 'just a vessel', I will steal their kidneys~)

Shizuka:

My daughter, my baby, my precious little cinnamon roll that could beat a man if provoked enough and had the anime been released in the last ten years, she would probably be the fandom best girl, because imouto. (But then again, she would been lewded to hell and back, so no thank u.) Basically, Your Honour, I love her and I would both die and kill for her.

Rebecca:

Tbh... not much to say, but the wisdom of age has changed me from from a 'she's such a fucking tryhard, LEAVE' hater to a 'she's trying so hard but let her have a NORMAL life' perceiver. Her Doma outfit with loose hair? AN ICONIC LOOK, SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALLOWED TO KEEP IT.

A redeemer, doing what he can to reverse the damage he caused as leader of the Ghouls. (Tho jail time? Punishment, lol nope. Ishizu can surely have her diplomatic immunity cover him, suckers)

Alternatively still running the Ghouls, still being an absolute bad bitch with his counterfeit crime empire, but less maliciously and maybe a kind of 'steal from the rich and give to the poor kids of Egypt' kind of criminality

Yu Gi Oh Shugo Chara Crossover. Who gets a Gaurdian Character. Who is the best … Uh, card player? Card person? … All I know about Yu Gi Oh is that the Dark Magician Girl card had a cute design.

I mean when you think about it, wouldn't Atem be Yugi's guardian character? Albeit a murderous one to start with, and even after character development--(/yeeted)

Seriously, though! Anzu would definitely have a ballerina, somewhat girly guardian character, given her dream to be a dancer and how the show portrays her as a somewhat of a 'tomboy' (by 2000s standards, anyways). I feel like her chara's name would be Yoko with the kanji: 謡子

Shizuka, who's portrayed as a meek, sweet girl would definitely have a 'punk'-ish, rebellious guardian character. Why? Because as quiet and as shy as Shizuka is made out to be, there's at least two instances in the anime where someone tells her not to do the Thing and she straight up does the Thing right in front of them! Granted, it ended badly in one particular case, but Shizuka is a lot more rebellious than you'd initially think for a formerly blind girl. (Or maybe she's rebellious because of being a formerly blind girl! That's my interpretation.) But I digress, Shizuka's guardian character would be called Eiko with the kanji: 江威子

As for Shugo Chara characters that would be good duelists? Ikuto and Kukai, hands down. They'd both run powerful decks, but Ikuto would particularly focus on handtraps and causing his opponents to brick constantly, while Kukai would be more of a brute force player, dive right in and hit you as hard and as fast as possible.

Yaya, I think, would also be a wildcard. I feel as though she'd pull off a Meffly or Marincess deck with devastating results if she had the inclination for it! Utau would run a Trickstar deck, but I'm not so sure she'd take the game seriously unless she had to, i.e. a life or death situation. (So, par for the course in YGO, whoops)

A - How did you come up with the title to...?

You never actually specified a fic sdjhadjhdw oh no.

So! Me being me picked one randomly and ended up with 'Lean on Me.' And let's be honest, at the time, I was neck deep in my Day6 hyperfixation, so that was probably a big influnce. But it also deals with the idea of how much Horikawa and Izuminokami lean on each other in both daily life and in battle. And even then, leaning on each other does not always mean that things will go smoothly, mistakes will happen and they'll get hurt. But they can overcome it and live for each other.

F - Share a snippet from one of your favourite dialogue scenes you've written and explain why you're proud of it.

Would you believe that a lot of my recent fics are... pretty short on dialogue fndksnsjs. It's a bad habit I've gotten into and I hate it, so I'm gonna use this snippet from an RP from years ago that still has me in shambles whenever I look at it.

"Kaiden, listen.... I'm sorry about this... but it's-- you're not alone, ok? You've... you've got me, I won't leave you alone. I got you into this mess... 'm sorry, man. You should have just... but we're here now. Together. That's all that matters now. We'll face this. Together. I'm not leaving you alone, I swear to you. Kaiden... your decoy is gonna stick with you until the end. I promise."

As for why I love this particular piece of dialogue so much? There's a lot of reasons, honestly. That whole RP was a huge push out of my comfort zone for me, having never written horror before. But I just like that, somehow, even with the absolute hell Kaoru was going through at that particular moment, I still got his complete loyalty to those he respects (and, even if he couldn’t admit it at the time at that particular canon point) and love, even as he knew that this was a situation that was going to end horrifically, to put it mildly. Also... this whole rp just cemented our friendship ; w ; (I'm sorry for bringing this part up again, tho. But you asked sksmsm)

L - How many times to you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?

SWEATS NERVOUSLY!!! Usually there's a few rough drafts/rewrites on the google doc a particular fic live on, but when it comes to uploading it, it's usually just a quick grammatical/spelling check before I fling it at the mercy of Ao3 users. And even then I miss things, I am a disaster.

But in all seriousness, it can be months from when I write the first draft until I get to a place when I'm somewhat satisfied with what I want to upload it, and it's gone through countless rewrites by the time I reach that point.

Q - How do you feel about collaborations?

SLAMS MY FISTS DOWN, I LOVE THEM. Love reading them, love seeing how two authors can weave their writing styles together to create a story~

And I would love to collaborate with another fic writer someday, hopefully when I have time to write more than a drabble ; w ;
