CAMERON & CASEY MITCHELL ;;
Their parents used to joke that Casey couldn’t have been more different from his older brother. Born five years after Cameron, Casey grew up tagging along with his older brother when allowed to and burying himself in books when he wasn’t. Where Cam scraped by in school ( partly out of a lack of interest ), Casey excelled. Where Cam would rather be out on the sports field or hanging out with his buddies, Casey preferred the quiet of the school library. His inclinations earned him more than a bit of bullying, and his overprotective big brother was always quick to intervene on his behalf, though it got Cam sent home from school and a stern talking-to from their father on more than one occasion.
And where Cam followed his father’s footsteps into the United States Air Force, as he’d never had any doubts he would, Casey continued on to college at Kansas State University with a full scholarship, and from there completed his doctor of veterinary medicine degree and a Food Animal Veterinary Certificate. He maintains a mixed practice (large and small animals), and though he has a small clinic he travels to most of his clients.
Despite everything, the brothers get along, and always have. They grew up play-fighting with brooms and tracking mud through the house, much to their mother’s frequent exasperation, and they’re equally likely to prank the other, though Casey’s much better at not giving it away too soon. Casey endures Cam’s ribbing with a smile, and no matter how many jokes Cam makes at his baby brother’s expense, he would do anything for him without hesitation.
They aren’t particularly good at keeping in touch — if Cam wasn’t inclined towards forgetfulness already, his inability to discuss much of anything to do with his job ( especially after joining the Stargate Program ) and his frequent absences from the planet make it hard to get hold of him. Casey makes an effort to call him ( though he jokingly calls it ‘bothering him’ ) on at least a monthly basis, and tends to nag him on holidays and on their parents’ birthdays because “Really, Cam, for God’s sake, give Mom and Dad a call.”
