what’s the big picture for the predators? do they want to keep expanding into more and more territories? or would they be content with what they have now? how far are they willing to go if more territory and power is a big goal? /anon

ok so an update post is long overdue (and i actually have a graphic in my drafts to go with it) but since time is a commodity i happen to have zero of, let me just say that since its establishment in 2017 the predators’ new york chapter has gone from 15 member to 26 to, most recently (in like, august of this year), absorbing about 11 more werewolves from a smaller pack in canarsie, brooklyn, that milled about in the territory the pack intended to make theirs. that totals about 37 werewolves. 37 werewolves and a established territory in one of brooklyn’s neighborhoods. as far as performance goes, domingo has more than delivered to the mother chapter. he’s proven to be an efficient alpha/president and he has achieved this with the least amount of violence. because it needs to be noted that the predators are not a violent pack, for all its tough exterior. it is powerful, yes, it is numerous and it is in many places at once, but it does not go around screwing over the little guys along the way, if it doesn’t have to. 

the big picture is always expansion, but more than that it is staying strong. they’re a relatively old pack with a rich history and that has been mainly due to their willingness to innovate and make the necessary changes. malcolm beckett, the president of the mother chapter, likely will see domingo’s success in new york and will want to expand to the west coast, eventually. they already have a strong grip in the south with the chapters in kentucky and louisiana, and with domingo in the east, the west seems like the next logical step. more international chapters could happen, but malcolm will prefer to focus on local things, even if it’s harder. 

it’s not like they’re power hungry, though. to them it just makes sense. and it’s not like they’re one big pack, so much as it is a few packs that are…. affiliated with one another. domingo is an alpha; malcolm is an alpha. the other chapters have got their own alphas. they just choose to organize themselves together because it makes them stronger and it gives them a sense of identity – all of them are predators, and wear the vests and have the patches and have done the work to prove it. but yeah, they would like to keep expanding, albeit they’re in no rush to do so. if it came between making up a new chapter and making sure the already existing ones were good and stable, the second option would be an obvious pick. 

it’s these things (the strength in numbers, the pacifism, the constancy) what make them appealing to other wolves. people seek to join them, so with time they just grow bigger.

and though they’re peaceful, they are willing to be violent if violence is asked of them. in between 2017 and now, domingo’s wolves have gotten involved in more than a few scuffles – blood has been shed, bodies have been dropped. but before getting to that point, domingo has always tried for the diplomatic route. his personal end goal hasn’t much to do with expansion, so much as it is to make sure his wolves don’t lack for anything and the chapter is stable and strong, without having to worry about any immediate threats (something that he hasn’t achieved, just yet, because wolf packs in new york feel threatened by him), and if that involves growing, then it’s more or less a side effect. he’s perfectly okay staying within the limits of a territory, if that territory is respected and he considers it big enough.

34. thoughts on privacy? (are they a private person, or are they prone to ‘TMI’?) dom is quite private. more than that, he is reserved. he is open to sharing his thoughts if he feels like they would be useful to the conversation, but if not, you are free to ask him directly. when it comes to his personal business (feelings, background, story, intentions, relationships with others) though, you mustn’t expect him to open up easily. unless he finds it in any way relevant, he will, more often than not, refuse. he won’t lie or anything, he will just tell you it’s not your problem. 

that’s why he dislikes all social media.

35. what activities do they enjoy, but consider to be a waste of time? that’s a funny question, considering he doesn’t tend to enjoy activities he considers a waste of time. dom is massively utilitarian and doesn’t like idleness. he can’t stay watching television for long periods and, if he sits down long enough to watch a movie, he’ll want to do a different thing afterwards. his leisure activities always serve a double purpose (reading, going for jogs, basketball). 

sometimes he will be distracted by phone games like candy crush and temple run, and though on some level he hates them, he won’t delete them from his phone. they’re useful when he wants to kill minutes.

48. how do they express love? through actions. domingo is the type of person that learns everything about you and stores it in his memory, including the things you don’t say and merely do. he sees the things you like and don’t. he sees the way you do your hair, and the products you use. he will take you out to lunch and get your favorite meal. he grows attuned to your body language and reacts accordingly, and when you speak, he attentively listens. and if he loves you, chances are he will tell you, but only for the purpose of you knowing in case you don’t. he’s not typically one to say it all the time.

the characters + father’s day (03)

the third group consists of the people whose fathers have passed away, regardless of whether they had a good or bad relationship. the group is made up of: marcelo, red, domingo, saul. naturally, expect talks about parental death.

marcelo’s father, ysmael disappeared when marcelo was sixteen yrs (and four months) old and was declared dead by marcelo’s mother about three months later, though his body (or an explanation) was never found. it was a quite traumatic event for him and had him seeing therapy for the better part of a year. still to this day (it’s been nine years) it’s a sore subject even nowadays because he has no parents left (his mother’s passing is even more recent, four years ago). marcelo’s relationship with his father was positive at large, but it still had many flaws -- ysmael could be very stubborn and set in his ways and this led to arguments between him and marcelo, not to mention that marcelo overall was displeased with his father’s line of work (and his mother’s, for that matter), and it was this line of work what wound up killing him. so, there’s a lot of conflicting emotions here, and while he’s managed to organize them and deal with them thanks to therapy they are still there. he prefers to spend father’s day (and mother’s day) on his own, even if he’s welcome in the larger reyes household where he’ll be treated as another son, he prefers not to (and they don’t push it). he will go to the woods or get close to the beach (especially at midnight).

red’s father, roland, died when red was a teenager too, he was 17 (almost 18) and lost both of his parents in one night to a demon. he actually spent much of this time (between the deaths and his birthday) on his own, before he could make it into a family friend’s home for shelter. it was not red’s first traumatic experience with the supernatural, and it wasn’t the last, but it did leave a big scar on him and it’s part of the reason he still hunts (besides divine intervention, but this is not something he is aware of). his parents gave up their lives to rid the world of malignant creatures and they raised him to do the same, so that’s what he dedicates his life to, unhealthy as that is. special occasions like birthdays, and father/mother’s day, are accompanied with a few drinks on easy days, or the usual work on hard days.

domingo’s father died during united states’ invasion of panama almost 30 years ago, so he’s had plenty of time to grieve and come to peace with it over the years. when he was younger he still held an erratic hatred towards all things us military, and while that hatred still very much exists he doesn’t let it cloud his judgement like it used to, or get into unnecessary confrontations. he spends father’s day on his own or with his pack, who more often than not don’t have relationships with their fathers either for whatever reason.

saul’s father died when he was still a baby, so saul never actually met him. his foster mother berenice reyes and her husband emmanuel were his parental figures from the very start, so they are the ones saul thinks about when he thinks about “parents”, and they are the ones he celebrates those dates with. sure enough, he’s been curious about who his biological parents were and berenice has been thoughtful with him and answered every question he’s had, as they had been friends of hers. besides a very fleeting, shallow feeling that shows up occasionally, he never feels like he’s missing anything in the family department.

🔪 WARDOBE  /  ATTIRE  MEME — FT. DOMINGO ALMODOVAR

not counting his club colors (not pictured), domingo has a taste for straightforward and neutral outfits. 

jackets are a staple, usually made in leather; he has different styles (a couple double riders, bombers, fur collared aviator), most of them black but a few in tan tones. depending on how casual he wants to be, there’ll be a t-shirt or a button shirt underneath. 

his jeans are usually (naturally) ripped, either black or dark blue. he prefers to buy decent quality jeans that will last him a while, instead of cheap ones he’ll have to replace every other week, considering his active lifestyle. 

he prefers to use monochrome t shirts if possible, neutral tones. he has a small collection of band t-shirts which would be the exception to this rule (elmore james, muddy waters, jimi hendrix, nine inch nails, santana, queen, nina simone), some of which actually belonged to one of his brothers. they have the signs of wear you’d expect, but are otherwise is very nice condition. when he wears them, they give him a rather grunge look.

his other shirts include: button downs, henleys, raglan sleeve, shirt-jacket hybrids, guayaberas (cuban collar shirts). he doesn’t like v-necks and will rarely wear them.

he has a few sweaters, some of which are very nice and break the norm of otherwise blacks/grays/browns (going instead for light blue, burgundy, dark green, orange) that he wears only when he wants to dress up a bit. they’re quite form fitting and soft to the touch.

occasionally when he has to do quick runs to the store/bodega or he’s chilling outdoors he’ll be seen in just a wifebeater. this is a habit that dates back to when he lived in panamá. he doesn’t like to draw attention to himself, so he’ll only do it in summer months (when he’s living in nyc)

footwear sticks to boots and sneakers, good things for the outdoors and for running. with the latter he sticks to black/white; no crazy colors. no flashiness, though they’re still very fashionable.

accessories include: he has a 10k cuban chain that belonged to his father (one of his most prized possessions) that he wears very rarely, and a black timex expedition watch.

KITCHEN.

What is the character’s favourite food?

Honestly, he loves all common day-to-day panamanian food. He’s always willing to try new dishes, and experience new flavors, but he relishes in the comfort of dishes he’s had since he was a kid. Arroz con pollo (rice and chicken), arroz con coco y guandú, sancocho… you can’t go wrong with tamales and tostones either. It has to do more with the preparation than with the plate. They have to have the right taste, and for that they have to be made with care.

Are they good at cooking? How good/bad?

He’s pretty good, actually, and he enjoys doing it. At least once a week, there’s a communal meal served at the bar for the pack, and he cooks all of it (with some side help). Everything he cooks is stuff he learned from his parents and grandparents, and he knows how to do them by heart. He’s also a quick learner for everything else. It’s very rare when he messes up – anything.

Do they leave the dishes out?

No. He cleans immediately. He also cleans as he cooks, so there’s not many dishes left after eating.

What kind of food is in their refrigerator?

Many vegetables and fruits and a lot of meat (you never know when you’re gonna deal with a hungry werewolf). 

Do they cook, eat out or get take-away/delivered food more?

He likes to cook. It relaxes him. That being said, he’s traveling a lot, so he ends up eating out by necessity. 

BATHROOM.

How does the character prepare in the morning?

A regular morning routine when he’s alone consists of stretching, brushing his teeth, showering to get rid of any remaining sleepiness, grooming, having a light breakfast, and, if he doesn’t have anything to do or a place to go, a jog. If he has to go somewhere, then he does all previously mentioned and dresses accordingly. It takes all about one hour.

Do they sing in the shower?

As we’ve already established, he hums! Oftentimes to no song in particular, or a song he doesn’t really know and just heard on the radio.

What kind of hair product/make-up do they use?

For his hair he uses few products but he does use them consistently, and that’s primarily moisturizers (every day) and shampoos (once a week, or if he’s sweated a lot), always making sure they are sulfate free/mostly natural in constitution. He likes artisanal products. He also has some products for beard care. There’s shaving cream, which he does not use often but it is always nice to have around. 

How clean is this character?

Quite. I mean, he’s prone to getting dirty for one reason or another, and is not afraid to do so, but he’s far from a slob.

Does the character have thousands of shampoo/shower gel bottles by the shower, or do they use only the bare essentials?

I think I pretty much already answered this. He has a reliable selection of products and doesn’t often deviate. The stuff he uses daily is in by the shower, and the stuff he uses once a week or less often stays in his cabinet.
