⛔️ - How does your muse react to others breaking the law? If they would do it themselves, what is their reasoning? - Red
thought-provoking headcanon meme / inbox cleaning + not accepting.
red doesn't really care about the "law" especially since many laws are put up explicitly to fuck with people like him, with black people, brown people, poor people, etc -- and because even outside of that, many laws get in the way of him successfully doing his job. so it's not really about the law when it comes to where he draws lines, so much as it's general morals and principles. if you're hurting someone or doing something harmful to someone that hasn't done anything to you or that is otherwise defenseless then indeed, he won't like you. if you steal from people that don't have much, then he won't like you. not cause there's laws against that, but because you're being an asshole.
his reasoning is basically the same. sometimes laws just get in the way of what actually must be done or has to be done.
the characters + father’s day (03)
the third group consists of the people whose fathers have passed away, regardless of whether they had a good or bad relationship. the group is made up of: marcelo, red, domingo, saul. naturally, expect talks about parental death.
marcelo’s father, ysmael disappeared when marcelo was sixteen yrs (and four months) old and was declared dead by marcelo’s mother about three months later, though his body (or an explanation) was never found. it was a quite traumatic event for him and had him seeing therapy for the better part of a year. still to this day (it’s been nine years) it’s a sore subject even nowadays because he has no parents left (his mother’s passing is even more recent, four years ago). marcelo’s relationship with his father was positive at large, but it still had many flaws -- ysmael could be very stubborn and set in his ways and this led to arguments between him and marcelo, not to mention that marcelo overall was displeased with his father’s line of work (and his mother’s, for that matter), and it was this line of work what wound up killing him. so, there’s a lot of conflicting emotions here, and while he’s managed to organize them and deal with them thanks to therapy they are still there. he prefers to spend father’s day (and mother’s day) on his own, even if he’s welcome in the larger reyes household where he’ll be treated as another son, he prefers not to (and they don’t push it). he will go to the woods or get close to the beach (especially at midnight).
red’s father, roland, died when red was a teenager too, he was 17 (almost 18) and lost both of his parents in one night to a demon. he actually spent much of this time (between the deaths and his birthday) on his own, before he could make it into a family friend’s home for shelter. it was not red’s first traumatic experience with the supernatural, and it wasn’t the last, but it did leave a big scar on him and it’s part of the reason he still hunts (besides divine intervention, but this is not something he is aware of). his parents gave up their lives to rid the world of malignant creatures and they raised him to do the same, so that’s what he dedicates his life to, unhealthy as that is. special occasions like birthdays, and father/mother’s day, are accompanied with a few drinks on easy days, or the usual work on hard days.
domingo’s father died during united states’ invasion of panama almost 30 years ago, so he’s had plenty of time to grieve and come to peace with it over the years. when he was younger he still held an erratic hatred towards all things us military, and while that hatred still very much exists he doesn’t let it cloud his judgement like it used to, or get into unnecessary confrontations. he spends father’s day on his own or with his pack, who more often than not don’t have relationships with their fathers either for whatever reason.
saul’s father died when he was still a baby, so saul never actually met him. his foster mother berenice reyes and her husband emmanuel were his parental figures from the very start, so they are the ones saul thinks about when he thinks about “parents”, and they are the ones he celebrates those dates with. sure enough, he’s been curious about who his biological parents were and berenice has been thoughtful with him and answered every question he’s had, as they had been friends of hers. besides a very fleeting, shallow feeling that shows up occasionally, he never feels like he’s missing anything in the family department.
1, 4 + 8 for red !
character development questions #11 / not accepting.
How does your character feel about personal space? Do they tend to make others uncomfortable with how close they get, or are they the ones constantly being uncomfortable with anyone getting too close to them? Or do they not care either way?
Red is very thoughtful about space. He is tall and big and he’s aware he easily fills it by presence alone, so he tries not to make himself even bigger with physical arrogance and carelessness, unless he has to. He’s economical in movement. When he does touch someone it is certainly deliberate, with a explicit objective, and likewise when he does occupy someone else’s personal space.
That same awareness applies to when others are too close to him. He’s not quick to show his feelings, since often when he is approached so blatantly it is in hopes to provoke him into something, but it definitely annoys him. He doesn’t tolerate anyone touching him without permission and will put a stop to it.
If your character is in pain, do they let everyone around them know just how bad it is, or do they tend to try and cover it up and say they’re fine? Does this ever result in negative consequences, whether it’s people ignoring their complains when they actually do have a bad injury, or their injury going untreated when they really do need help?
He usually tries to fix the injuries himself, but he’s not stupid. He will spell out his exact problem to his companion because it would be a huge risk not to. So when something is wrong with him, really wrong with him, people usually believe him and act accordingly. They know that, otherwise, he would not be saying anything.
Describe how your character deals with failed or failing relationships, whether familial, platonic, romantic, sexual, or otherwise. Do they easily let go of people, or are they more likely to hold onto a relationship for as long as they can? Does this affect how they form relationships?
Boy he broods! so! Much! he mopes! SO! much for his failed relationships (which are all of them). At this point he tries not to get too attached to anyone, but TBQH, he is just bound to do those things, he’s full of feelings and he’s disgusted by each and every one of them. This is just why he prefers to be alone period; there’s less chances of anything happening that way. He doesn’t easily let go, and when he has to, he keeps people in his mind for as long as he can.
What shape does your pain take?
GHOSTS
Your pain takes the shape of ghosts, haunting you, always there. No one would believe you if you told them, or understand even if they did. You don’t know how to make them go away, or what they want. They just follow you, casting shadows over all you do, being your fears and the embodiment of all you’ve lost or are afraid of losing. They can’t touch you though… Can they?
GLASS CAGE
You feel disconnected from the world around you. You can see everything, everyone can see you, but you're not really there. No one can really communicate with you, can they? You're isolated, even when you're around people you're alone.
You want desperately to be close to someone, but you're afraid of what will happen if you shatter your glass prison. You don't want to let someone in, you don't want to leave, and it's a constant battle of your own will.
It's easier to be alone, where no one can hurt you... Isn't it?
