       HE CHUCKLED AWAY HER RETICENCE, angling toward her with a tip of his head aside. her hands had a mind of their own, it seemed, as he had found them reaching for the feathers adorning his hat. well, he can’t fault her for having curiosity--- to do so would be to deny her human nature.

     While honesty could certainly maim a situation, or one’s ties with another, lies could kill. He knew, as those brand of lies had molded his childhood, and forged the monster his father had always intended. At this reminiscence, his gaze, heavy with a sleepless black, closed briefly, before long reigniting and settling upon the horizon.

          ❝… If we abandon it, then we forgo all hope of trust.❞

     As trust, he reasoned, was key in the founding of bonds, and so too was understanding. Thus, it was as such he declined her way of thinking, a mere philosophical difference that he had no want of battle over. There was only caution in his words– lies were a dangerous weapon, and they had a way of biting the hand that feeds them.
