Peter is actually a mutant, and that’s how he’s so good at getting information. His general mutant ability would be considered knowledge manipulation, though he can’t exactly manipulate knowledge. He can gain it, usually through detection and absorption, and while he can take it from humans and humanoids he rarely if ever actually does so. 

Jordan figured it out years ago, even though Peter never explicitly told him, and he’s very discreet about his knowledge about it. Peter knows that Jordan knows, and he’s grateful that Jordan’s never really felt the need to pry.

Jordan is often concerned about Peter when the latter is off looking for information, especially when he is doing live recording and especially when there’s a high risk that Peter may get injured due to structural damage or being caught in the crossfire. He tries not to show it often, because he trusts his partner will return in fine fettle, but his irritation and fidgeting and frequent glances at Peter’s desk make it easy to pick up on his true feelings.
