“I have a secret.” The oversized pup is laughing under his breath, inside he could feel his wolf wiggling around, overly excited. His smile is so bright, hands pressed to his cheeks as if that would help him calm down some. “The publishers picked up another one of my books. I mean, it’s another children’s book but I’m glad to just get any published you know? I think I need to maybe do more research for my writing, try to build on my own experiences. What do you think?” It’s hard for him to sit still, the cellphone in his hands getting turned over and over as a way to occupy himself. “Okay, sorry-- You’ve been here for all of ten seconds and I’m already planning out my next six months in work. What did you say you came over again for?” His apartment is a mess, much more so than usual. In his whirlwind of bouncing around, he had only ruffled up more stray pieces of paper to float around the room. “Also, hi.”

Quinn knew he shouldn’t be out this late. It was a Friday, he had a few drinks with one of the other teachers, and frankly he should have just gone home. His phone was dead, the sky was threatening to open up in a downpour at any minute, and he couldn’t actually remember what place was the one he was looking for - but none of that stopped him. 

He knew enough to recognize the building, pressing the first few buzzers to get yelled at in return. Hopefully the sixth time was the charm as he waited for the tell tale sign of someone picking up. “Gage? Gage, I miss you.” The wolf announces, leaning against the entrance. “I know we’re supposed to see each other later but I couldn’t wait. Open the door, pretty please!”

For scientific purposes, what does happen during a wolf's heat, Quinn? And do you ever suffer any side effects from the suppressants?

His cheeks puff out before the wolf lets out a huff, the topic a bit of a sensitive subject to most omegas - especially males. “What happens is a bunch of… not greatness.” His tongue gets stuck between his teeth, keeping him from breaking into some sort of self deprecating laughter. “Being a male doesn’t make it harder, your body just kinda… overcompensates? Like no, I’m not going to get pregnant. I can’t. It’s not physically possible. I will never be able to bear children of my own.” He tries not to wince at that. “Really it’s just an overload of hormones that trick your body into thinking you want that. I don’t know all the science behind it…” 

Trailing off he just nods a bit to himself, most of the time he didn’t think much about the once a month injections he had. “There can be some. Mood swings are the most common, muscle cramping, headaches. For females that take them for long times, they can risk infertility. It’s nothing that a day in two in bed can’t cure for me, but I’d say I only really experience side effects every few months. Usually only when I’m not diligent on the dates, the later you go the more hellish it can be.”

A whine sounds from the wolf, his knees coming up to his chest to curl himself into a small ball. Or at least, as small as he can make himself. His silence is more of an answer, his utter refusal to answer the question. Still, he shakes his head a bit a contrast to the way the word “yes” falls from his lips.

The wolf groans, hiding his face in his hands. He doesn’t want to admit that he has thought about it. So much that he lost sleep and ended up sleeping through his tutoring shift in the afternoon. He had been embarrassed, apologized profusely, and thankfully had not lost any business. But he had lost more sleep.
