        “you can pick the movie.” she said lightly. she had gone to the family video to improve the berman family selection ( which previously consisted of grease and star wars exclusively  ). if she was going to be a camp counselor this upcoming summer she certainly couldn’t do it without practice. all those tiny campers asking for braids was something she had to be prepared for, and she certainly couldn’t practice on ziggy. “you’ll have to sit on the floor, but it shouldn’t take too long. i have also taken the liberty of providing popcorn.”

catch the bermans being neighbors with max and eddie, having to move after their dad left. cindy never quite inviting anyone over to her neighborhood because she couldn’t stand to hear a bad word about it

SONGS TO ESCAPE VECNA 

carrie white : they can’t take that away from me by ella fitzgerald. back before her father left this is the song her parents used to dance to in their kitchen. sometimes when her mother thinks she’s alone she’ll hum it. aside from church hymns that is the only music she’s ever heard. 

cindy berm.an : edge of seventeen by stevie nicks. i think it’s a little grittier than people would expect but i think that represents cindy well.i also think that the bermans widely don’t owe many tapes so they tend to replay the ones they have to get the most use.  i will say that if like a prayer by madonna had come out by this point, that would have been her song. another honorable mention is look at me i’m sandra dee. 

dally winston : hungry like the wolf by duran duran.  dally can be secretly playful and likes to joke around with his friends to this song. part of him really enjoys it and the other thought that it’s a little ridiculous. so catch him howling along to the song between chuckles. 

dusti.n henderson : the neverending story by limahl. if you think dusty-bun had any choice but this song than i’m afraid you misunderstand how important this is to him. even if he is needled about it ever so often this is the song he’d choose. 

lucas sin.clair : i want you back by the jackson five. although you would think that lucas’s song tastes would have updated a little bit more this is the song that holds his heart. i think he used to sing it around the house and maybe recruit erica to sing along. it’s his go to shower song and the fondness for it has never faded. 

lydia deetz : cum on feel the noise by slade. lydia loves it when the music drowns her out and this song does it the best. had she had the option though a few years later where is my mind by the pixies would jump up to number one. 

murray baum.an : sexual healing by marvin gaye. is there a good reason for this? no. do i think it would be hilarious for him? yes. thus that would be my pick. 

scottie riggs: rhiannon by fleetwood mac. after her parents gruesome murder scottie had a difficult time sleeping but that song always seemed to bring her comfort. she also very much embodies a similar vibe to stevie nicks and would find kinship in that. 

will bye.rs : space oddity by david bowie narrowly beats out the sound of music from the sound of music. there is something lonely about the song that he keys into. it’s quiet and just begging to be listen to. he also likes the perception that david bowie has of being a little weird / outside of time.

       cindy shook her head. her hands are gripped on the bathroom sink. she had thought she was alone, or else she would have never begun to cry. the tears were already streaming down her cheeks when chrissy emerged. cindy sniffed, shaking her head. “ please don't ask me how i've been, don't make me play pretend.”
