tonight.

the sudden turn of events this night is anything but pleasant, has left seolhyun with her blood running cold, any color fading from her face. the announcement on the tv hit everyone in the bar with surprise. some have shown not a care in the world for the tragedy unfolding within the ranks of hydrus and the awful consequences following suit; some have hurried home, aware of the looming danger. while seolhyun would be chatting with jun the way she usually does whenever she drops by once her work is over, she’s left mostly silent tonight. half-heartedly listens to the bartender she’s grown so very fond of, attempts to smile when she’s expected to smile, answers when she’s expected to answer.
it’s obvious there is something off, fear clinging onto her like a second skin. her life is on the line, that she knows, also knows how hydrus has no reason to hold on her back any longer. it’s obvious they don’t mind what the citizens think of them, the uproar they are causing. the last thing she wants now is to endanger anyone around her, especially the man behind the counter; the man who’s been breaking down all the walls she’s built up, has managed to bring back the kind of smile she thought she’d lost forever.
“i ... i need to go.” it’s sudden as she speaks, unaware of how late it has actually gotten by now, ignorant to the danger on the streets. “thank you for the drinks. i -- i will pay you back. i promise.” a meek, fleeting grin crosses her lips, her bag fetched from the stool next to her.
