arlo rivers did not have an ordinary childhood. she was born to karina and cory rivers, two c.i.a agents. she spent her childhood moving around every few years and with a nanny that cared for her whenever her parents were away on a mission. her whole life she had basically been preparing for a life in the c.i.a herself. her parents trained pretty much since she could walk. she has been taught french, spanish, german and arabic and trained in martial arts (seriously, she’s a blackbelt in karate, judo, taekwando and mixed martial arts) preparation for following in her parents’ footsteps because that’s what she always had believed that she would end up doing.
unfortunately, things didn’t end well. she’d been a daddy’s girl growing up but that all changed when she turned sixteen. her father went rogue and in turn got her mother killed. ever since then, she resented him. she was definitely sad when he ended up killed when she was eighteen, but part of her still hated him for what happened to her mom. it was after their deaths that she decided that she’d never work for an organization that had her parents killed. instead, she ended up working as an undercover agent for a big name law firm. she effectively was their hired muscle, using her training to get information out of whoever her firm needed her to.
outside of work, there are two sides to arlo. she has her walls up high, so if you aren’t close or you don’t know her — there’s a chance she won’t be overly sweet to you. but then there’s the side a girlfriend, a best friend or the rest of her family might see... which is incredibly soft. for the people she loves, she’s the kindest and most loyal person they know.
