could you talk a little more about pai && lettuce?

//you want me to gush don’t you? oh my gosh okay so well first of all the anime is the only one that hints at the love interest between the two (the manga shows no signs of Pai feeling such a way towards Lettuce, then again Pai is RARELY even seen in the manga), but it’s so subtle and I just loVE THEM??? like. just the small things that progress between them that get overlooked and just even the fact that Pai’s wiki mentions he had hidden feelings for Lettuce like jkafnckajnckja. and can we talk about this quote right here about Lettuce saving Ryou? “what you did was beautiful, but foolish” -- THIS IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF WHAT MADE PAI LIKE LETTUCE. she risked her life to save someone she cared for, something HE was doing by fighting the humans to try and save his people, but she could have cost herself her own life and he calls this foolish. hypocritical? possibly, no; it is. but what if that’s how he also views what he and his brothers are doing? they believe they are in the right, that it is ‘beautiful’ because they are trying to save their people, but what if he is doubting himself? seeing it as foolish? okay this must just be me reading too much into it but akjfnkdavnkdjan okay. done gushing for now. need to work on other things------

what is it about lettuce that pai likes so much, in your own opinion?

//I was about to let Pai answer this until I realized it was directed at ME——Lettuce is practically the embodiment of hope. she doesn’t want to fight the aliens, she has hope that things could be different, and Pai sees this and admires it; but he doesn’t believe there is such a hope. she’s different than the other mews, her heart is kind and her words are pure and true, and he even states in episode 51 “if we had lived in a different era, no that’s foolish” – he was musing aloud about Lettuce, about if things had been different then maybe THEY could be different, but he feels he cannot afford such foolish daydreams because his people are what matter; not his feelings for the enemy. she was something that surprised him; he didn’t expect any human to be like HER. it was her HOPE that got his attention. her kind heart. her LOVE for everything. and there at the end he finally realized that her hope maybe wasn’t so foolish, that maybe he had been the one that was foolish: And so he sacrifices himself for them, giving Lettuce a SMILE. now he smiles a bit in the series, but it is only ever either MALICIOUS or for his BROTHERS; Pai doesn’t show his emotions often, and the fact he smiled at LETTUCE is something huge.

How do you picture Pai's kingdom? (the aesthetic, apperence of the city, how the societies there behaves, both aliens and humans, what the aliens servants think about Lettuce and her daily routine) >3<

//well, it is across the ocean from where Taruto’s and Kisshu’s kingdoms are located. I can see Pai’s kingdom having canals running through it that were filled with a bunch of marine life——the kingdom itself is very technologically advanced and filled with tall buildings and homes that very chrome-like, for the ALIENS anyways; the humans homes are made of brick or wood, found at the outer edge of the kingdom. I see Pai’s kingdom being kind of like how Ba-Sing-Se was in Avatar the Last Airbender, just the closer you get to the center the nicer it gets–at the center is Pai’s palace. it’s huge you can see it from the outermost ring. the palace itself is filled with so much technology, but there are a few rooms where it is literally a GIGANTIC aquarium filled with sharks and whales and dolphins and octopuses and all these exotic marine creatures.

the aliens there are very intellectual and factual aliens, all very snooty and ‘superior’ to the humans in their kingdom. the humans are treated the worse in Pai’s kingdom compared to his brothers’; he just doesn’t care about them. they are constantly in poverty and treated with disrespect, as if they were worse than dirt, and the only human that winds up being treated with respect in his kingdom is Lettuce.

at first Lettuce was treated just as badly and nothing more than Pai’s property, but for post marriage he treated her better and made sure EVERYONE treated her like the royalty she now was. if he found out someone mistreated her, he would have them tortured/killed/punished. the alien servants are the worst offenders, finding it unfair that a HUMAN servant/pet was chosen to marry the prince, the second worst offenders are Pai’s advisers. he’s pretty much fired half of them by the time he and Lettuce are trying for a child, hiring those who are tolerable of inter-species marriage. he might mistreat Lettuce himself from time to time, but if anyone else does they will pay for it.
