Minhyuk was somewhat of a regular ar Pikaboo, it was where he took the young Pokémon he found who needed the shelter. It was almost awful how many he came across, every single time he felt his heart break a little more, it was why he always went along to check up on whoever he had dropped off in the past as well. While he would happily look after the Pokémon himself, unfortunately, he didn’t really have the time for it on top of his job and the countless other trainers and wild Pokémon who needed his attention. And so, he dropped them off in Suwon, and that was mostly the reason for his visit that particular afternoon.

The young Budew was cradled in his arms, careful not to stumble or trip up and drop the poor thing. Minhyuk still had no idea who was responsible for the Pokémon’s current condition, but whenever he found out who it was, he was going to kick their ass. It was just a baby and didn’t deserve this kind of attention, it should be loved and well looked after, not just thrown to the side. There was no excuse anyone could give him for this. Anyone who did this to a Pokémon just did not deserve them.

Almost barging in through the front door, the Ranger looked around for a moment before deciding the best thing to do was to announce himself. “It’s Minhyuk,” he spoke quickly as he moved in further, “And I have a budew who needs your attention.” And while he was there he might as well check up on the Pokémon he had dropped off the last few times as well. It wouldn’t hurt, he had time before he had to be back.

ϟ Show and Tell

That partiuclar day, Minhyuk was tasked with showing some government official what it was a Ranger did. While it might sound like a boring task. Minhyuk found that he didn’t mind, he was always eager to show someone what he did if they were interested, and if it would help in getting some more Ranger schools put up, then it was certainly for a good cause. Before whoever they were sending had arrived, he had spent most of his time running around and making sure that everything was in order, not a single leaf out of place if he could help it. What he needed to do was to show the Rangers off in the best light possible, no mistakes and he was hoping for no drastic emergency he would need to run off for, even if it might help the cause a little.

When she arrived, Minhyuk did the usual greeting, bright smile on his face as he did a basic information download. It was better to explain while on the job, he had decided, so it was short and didn’t really give her much before he offered to take her on a small tour of his stomping ground, as he liked to call it, before getting onto anything else. As they walked around, no doubt something would crop up which needed his attention anyway.

Something always did.

And now, that was exactly what they were doing as Minhyuk led her along, bouncing a little on the balls of his feet. “I forgot to ask, do you have any questions or anything?” He added, turning his head a little to look across at the woman walking beside him with a smile, “Make sure you ask about anything you’re curious about and I’ll make sure I answer to the best of my ability.”

the gainful aftermath ☛ remus & amelia

Remus and Amelia were not, he supposed, the closest of friends. They had not shared tenure at Hogwarts, nor had they worked together in any professional capacity, but there was one thing that made them, as it did many people, quite amicable companions: drink. It was not uncommon to find Amelia and Remus sharing conversation over a bottle of wine after an Order meeting, and he had discovered after a time, quite abruptly, that he missed those small hours, if not the Order meetings themselves. 

The woman was not hard to find; she was nothing if not assiduous in her work, and Remus had spent enough time in the Ministry over the years to find her office (albeit with two separate instances where he had to ask for directions). The idea that she might have left work already had crossed his mind--it was summer and well past dark--but if there was one thing he knew about Amelia Bones, it was that she was practically attached to the Ministry by the hip. 

"Ms. Bones," he announced after a polite, if not perfunctory, knock on her ajar door. "The Ministry has sent me here personally to whisk you away to the Three Broomsticks, you see. It's my sole duty to ensure you leave the building once during an entire 24 hour period." You're one to talk, Remus, he thought dryly. It would certainly not do to admit that he had left his house for the first time in four days to accost Amelia. Instead, he smiled a strained smile. "One simply cannot be expected to work throughout the night without, at least, one drink."
