OW Character Headcanons for Hanyatta and Mcgenji:
Jesse McCree: Chill af and gay af, but still very masculine and rough-looking. No straight man wears boots like that. Really sweet and charming, doesn’t matter who it is, he will be on his best behaviour for them. Has the occasional episode of PTSD when someone grabs his wrist or he hears a loud, gunshot-like sound when he’s in a place he thinks is safe. Absent sometimes, lost in his own head, had a very rough childhood that made him soft towards people. You never know what someone else is going through. Will beat the crap out of someone if he’s mad though. Explosive, violent anger, similar to what was dealt on him when he was young, so these episodes normally make him go quiet for a while. He doesn’t like being the one he was afraid of as a kid and even as a young adult. Occasionally dissociates, just sits and has to work through it on his own. Genji will often snuggle with him through it, if Jesse allows it. He normally does. Very sweet and caring, gives the best hugs, also makes the best food. Independent, sharp-witted and even sharper-tongued, loves making people smile and laugh.
Genji Shimada: Energetic and constantly fidgetting with something, loves attention, especially from those he loves. Trans, pan, used to use sex as a way to affirm who he was and that people wanted him for who he was. Now has Jesse to assure him he doesn’t have to use his body to be loved for the person he is. Confident and cocky, but knows how to use it in a way that doesn’t come off as being an ass. Everyone knows him and everyone loves him. Dangerous when angry or threatened, he will explode, but when it’s done, it’s done. Impulsive, playful, mostly carefree. Just wants attention from Jesse, basically. Doesn’t take meds for his adhd because they make him depressed, so he’s learned how to calm himself down when he needs to (courtesy of Zenyatta). Proud of his body, sexuality, and everything that he is. Very happy with his lot in life. Will do absolutely anything for his family.
Zenyatta Tekhartha: The opittomy of cute. Is a literal angel, calm, patient, sweet, caring, all of the above. Intersex, doesn’t bother to put any labels on himself. Uses he/she/they to the comfort of whoever uses the pronoun. Can be an angry kitten, but hates being made fun of for it (because no one can take him seriously when he’s mad). Beautiful accent, English is not quite perfect yet, but it’s also his fourth language. Absent, a bit messy because of it, knows everyone by at least their faces and will stop to talk with them for at least a half hour. Master of energies, was a temple protector. Has horrible annual PTSD that comes in November because of what he went through in the temples (having to watch all his friends and family die in an attack). Spirits remain impossibly high, however. He is rather easy to piss off though, even if he never shows it. Adores Hanzo and his newfound family with all his heart. Constantly wants to be with Hanzo, they normally are touching in some way. Excellent at baking, though the kitchen is bound to be a mess afterwards.
Hanzo Shimada: Pessimistic and cold until you get close to him (which is quite the feat), then he shows his true colours. If he trusts you, he’s the sweetest, most hardworking guy you’ll ever meet. This part of him shows more often than the latter after he’s with Zen. Curious by nature, finds joy in the little things, loves taking walks and drinking tea on the balcony. Definitely not a morning person. Extremely depressed and has horrible anxiety from the clan, but it gets much better after he meets Zenyatta (basically, everything got better for him after Zenyatta taught him to love himself and that it’s okay to be who he is). Gay, but was in denial for at least seven years, has ocd and a mild bit of autism. Will practice something until it’s perfect, goes out of his way to do nice little things for his close family, constantly wants to be around (and preferably cuddle) Zenyatta. They’re always together. Very good cook, patient, extremely loving and attentive. Quiet, terrifying anger, has a bit of a superiourity complex. Likes soft, squishy things, and finds surprisingly child-like interest in the things he likes due to him being unable to express himself or really be a child in the clan.
