The reason I ended up liking McGenji more than McHanzo wasn't really out of any issues I had with McHanzo. I liked it at first. I remember being there when that one super big fic was being written and the author would come into the massive McHanzo discord right before posting a new chapter and just post screams like "AAAHAHHHAHAH" and we'd go "oh shit a new chapter is coming!!!!!" I was in college at the time and it always felt like such a big deal, lmao. Cannot for the life of me remember their name though. or the name of the fic.

But ultimately there's just a lot more going on with Cassidy and Genji. More history, more parallels with their stories, better mesh of personalities. I ended up not disliking McHanzo so much as just realizing those characters wouldn't mesh well and wouldn't last as a couple. And nothing interesting about their dynamic isn't already done with McGenji. IMO.

(Having a complicated past? Done horrible things you aren't proud of? Having walked away/turned against family? Having walked away from everything they knew? Trying to be better people and make up for harm they've done? True of literally all of them.)

Not that I think Cassidy and Hanzo would dislike each other. It'd be super weird at first but honestly I think they'd ultimately get along just fine. They'd probably hang out sometimes and be super competitive with each other while Genji is off to the side like do I have to be here for this or can I go play video games with hana.

Plus is there any better way to make Hanzo pay for everything he did then making him watch you date an American. Cassidy says Ain't and Yonder unironically while cuddling with Genji and Hanzo has to leave the room to cool down.
