Sorry, it's the only flower I have

aww no, don't be sorry! there's a lot of beauty to be found in what others might see as mundane, or even as a pest.

dandelions were my favorite flower growing up. maybe because we didn't have a garden til i was older, so they were the most exciting ones i ever saw in our front yard - a renegade flash of yellow in an otherwise monotone, manufactured plot of flat green.

they were ungovernable. they neither had nor cared about any preconceived notions of what a conservative suburban lawn should or shouldn't look like. everyone hated them. i hated having to pull them.

it still gives me pause seeing them pop up out of cracks in the pavement. they flourish in the bleakest of places and they don't die easily. their life cycle is beautiful and a symbol of rebirth (- and, being perennials, the flower withers away in winter but the roots stay behind, awaiting the next season).

i'm rambling again but really, thank you, i needed this - it's been a rough few days. i'll press it in a book for safekeeping :')
