I have a viscerally strong revulsion to quotes from Rhett “Marital Rape” Butler being put into the mouths of... basically any male character, but especially ones who are designed to be decent human beings. 

Nothing he says is romantic. Take him out of his ‘Southern romance’ setting and he’s a thief, a murderer, a racist, and arguably a sexual predator.

I love Gone With the Wind. But there is a grand total of five decent human beings in this book with a cast of thousands, and none of them are the white characters and fucking CERTAINLY none of them are Rhett “has been pursuing Scarlett O’Hara since she was 16 and asked her to be his mistress when she was 19″ Butler.
