3, 20 (I know it’s English but I was curious about the different accents you gave for the Black Ravens?)... and 32!

3. Favourite AU? For PL, I like “Aurora doesn’t die” AUs, because that is all I am willing to accept and should’ve been the canon ending anyway. “Let’s teach this golem she has life, only to kill her” is a shitty ending to any story. For Hades Game, I have this incredibly personal au that I’ve been calling “the metrocente au”, which is a modern au set in a shopping centre near to where I grew up. The premise is that Hades owns the shopping centre and has banned his son, Zagreus, who keeps doing parkour on the art installations and trying to find the fabled metroland (a small themepark which no longer exists). So Zagreus is trying to break in this time instead of break out. Asterius has been lost in the metrocentre his entire life, him and Zagreus actually team up in this au. Theseus is a security guard tasked with throwing Zagreus out. Hypnos works the desk at the entrance. Persephone is in metroland, which still exists, just in a different dimension. Theseus’s ex-wife, Ariadne, is a frequent shopper and spends her days at Argos, when Theseus isn’t divorcing her outside of Pizza Hut for the tenth time. I’m still deciding on the roles for everyone else. 20. Do you write in your native language? Different regional accents I gave the Black Ravens Amber would actually be better at answering this than me haha. The easiest one is that Crow is cockney. Socket is also kind of cockney, but if I’d done it better, then he’d have more of an Essex twang. Badger is, like, general northwest, but he comes from near Manchester if you want to narrow it down. Also, Scraps is from Durham, but for some reason I never gave him an accent, even though it’s the closest to where I live, so I might’ve actually been able to pull that one off. Louis is a scouser, plain and simple. 32. Most popular work/series? This answer always surprises me, but my most viewed fic is still my Free! SouMako zombie au “Trail Mix”, by a large margin. I keep thinking that one SenGen smut fic I wrote for Dr. Stone will top it, but nope, Trail Mix is still winning by a mile.

▼ - childhood headcanon I’m trying to think of something that wasn’t already mentioned in Grasping Liquid haha. Oh yeah, to keep his mum happy, Crow is part of the Misthallery Boys Choir along with Charlie and those other kids from North Ely. Crow cannot sing. Crow believes he can sing very well. ☮ - friendship headcanon I mean, again this is the basis of GL, but while Crow would absolutely die for his friends, he struggles to accept change in their circumstances down to a deep-rooted fear of being left by them. As he gets older, he comes to terms with the lack of control he has over everyone else’s lives, stops being such a puppet-master and finds pride in what his friends are doing, even if they’re far away from him, as well as just develops a more healthy outlook towards friendship in general.

hey it’s ablackraven! I JUST noticed the other day that grasping liquid had been updated, and I read the new chapters in one go (I know, I’m basically a year late) and I just want to thank you for writing GL! You took and expanded on a bunch of side characters, so much so that they’re almost basically original. I first discovered GL back in 2015 and it had a really big influence on my life at the time, that carried on even now. I wasn’t in a bad place by any means but I was an extemely lonely person, and reading GL made me feel like I had friends in a way, since the story is about the black ravens growing up and all. That might sound kind of sappy but as a young teenager, I got easily attached to all of the black ravens, and loved the personalities you had given all of them, and I loved watching them grow up. In a way, I felt like I had grown with them. As soon as I finished the story, I went back and reread the first few chapters and I really saw how much the characters had grown. They were all so dependant on crow, badger especially, and crow was kind of cruel in a way to them, relishing in their dependency, but by the end, everyone has settled into their own personalities and lives. The black ravens are still intertwined with eachother, but they know they are friends first and foremost, rather than a leader and his crew. Anyway this ask is getting super long but I enjoyed the story and I enjoyed growing up with the characters you elaborated on :) I can’t thank you enough for this amazing story.

oh my goodness, reading through this made me feel so emotional Thank you so much for taking the time to say such kind words about GL. It was quite a ride for me as well and hearing how much it resonated with you makes me so glad that I didn’t give up on the fic. If you take out its minimal ties to PL, it’s basically an original story and posting something like that made me kinda nervous. There’s stuff about it I’m not so happy about now, but I’m so glad that the characters and their relationships came across the way that I’d hoped - they were people, growing and changing, making not very good decisions and hopefully learning to be better people. For Crow in particular, his journey was probably my favourite. He had a lot of dependency on the Black Ravens, he wanted to be able to act as he pleased, but expected they’d be waiting around for him in every regard and never change. Having him learn that they had lives of their own and would make changes, regardless of if he approved of them, was interesting to write. Plus, it meant I could expand on the other members of the group and turn them into their own characters. Roddy, Scraps and Marilyn were probably my faves in that regard. I think I wanted it to be a “The character doesn’t get the ending they thought they wanted, but the ending they get instead helps them grow” kind of story? ANYWAY, thank you again for the kind words you’ve sent me here and on the fic itself. Hearing that it helped you out when you were younger and that the Black Ravens felt like friends to you is the most heart-warming thing. Rest assured that they’re all living their happy lives now and I hope you are as well. :D

Awww that's super sweet!! Crow x Badger is one of my all time fave ships, even though I'm not active in that fandom anymore. It makes me so happy to see people still love them together, even all these years later. :D But I'm afraid I'm a writer and not really an artist. I did do some drawings back in the day, but I don't really have the time or tools for it now. However, I wrote a super long Crow x Badger fic a few years back that you can check out here <3

Would you write any more fics in the Grasping Liquid universe?

If the inspiration struck me, then sure! Though, at least for the moment, in my head Grasping Liquid is finished. If I was going to revisit it, then I think it’d either be to establish the Umid/Roddy stuff that I never got around to or expand on Oscar’s part of the story, probably building on the notes that I posted after the fic was finished. I still think about Oscar sometimes, he was my baby. But Crow & Badger have been through a lot and deserve a rest haha. So I doubt anything new based on Grasping Liquid would have them as the main characters. They’d be around as supporting characters for sure, though.

you used to be a big crow fan back in the day. so i was curious about your thoughts on lucrow??

(Okay, so I haven’t been actively following PL fandom for a long time and I’m completely out of touch with everything, but I think LuCrow is the fan name for the Luke/Crow ship? So I’m gonna answer based on that. But if I’ve got it wrong and you meant something different please let me know.)Luke/Crow is pretty cute, yeah. Not got any strong feelings on it, but there’s a bunch of cute fan art that I’ve seen about and I like it.Funny story, sometime after PL4 was localised, I got hardcore into this ship for a while and even co-owned a group for them on dA of all places. I wrote a few fics for them and stuff. But as time went on, while I still liked it, I got more actively into RPing and writing Crow/Badger (I’m a sucker for one-sided pining) and ended up more invested in that ship. Also, the fandom was very hostile at that time and I wanted to steer away from making content about the main characters, so I wouldn’t attract drama to my account. And sadly, as much as I love Luke, he was one of the main characters and fell into this category. (That’s why, other than Desmond, there aren’t really any main characters in Grasping Liquid.)
