you used to be a big crow fan back in the day. so i was curious about your thoughts on lucrow??
(Okay, so I haven’t been actively following PL fandom for a long time and I’m completely out of touch with everything, but I think LuCrow is the fan name for the Luke/Crow ship? So I’m gonna answer based on that. But if I’ve got it wrong and you meant something different please let me know.)Luke/Crow is pretty cute, yeah. Not got any strong feelings on it, but there’s a bunch of cute fan art that I’ve seen about and I like it.Funny story, sometime after PL4 was localised, I got hardcore into this ship for a while and even co-owned a group for them on dA of all places. I wrote a few fics for them and stuff. But as time went on, while I still liked it, I got more actively into RPing and writing Crow/Badger (I’m a sucker for one-sided pining) and ended up more invested in that ship. Also, the fandom was very hostile at that time and I wanted to steer away from making content about the main characters, so I wouldn’t attract drama to my account. And sadly, as much as I love Luke, he was one of the main characters and fell into this category. (That’s why, other than Desmond, there aren’t really any main characters in Grasping Liquid.)
I, K, N, and Q!
I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?
I dunno if I’d go as far as to say “stop liking” but I definitely tread more carefully in the PL fandom than I did in the days before Tumblr. Back when the fandom was mostly on LJ and dA it was one of the most chill fandoms I’ve ever been in, but since it migrated over to Tumblr there’s definitely a lot more of people getting angry at each other over things that don’t really matter that much, like Flora’s age or timelines or preferences on headcanons or whatever. And since I like a lot of particularly obscure themes I find that I rub people the wrong way a lot. So these days I take a lot more care when talking about the series than I used to, especially when it comes to the main characters.
K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?
Maybe not “development” as such, but I think Luke is the one main character who had consistently good writing throughout the series. He was always the easiest for me to sympathise with and I found that emotional scenes involving him (such as Aurora’s death or when he left for America) would hit me harder than any other character. As I sit here typing I genuinely can’t think of a time where the writing for him felt bad and if there were some times when he was annoying or made a mistake it’s easier to dismiss because he’s just a kid.
N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).
1. The Black Ravens2. Alphonse Dalston3. Female PL characters being in love with other female PL characters
Q - A fandom you’ve abandoned and why.
Ace Attorney. I’d hope it’s better these days, but back when I was active in that fandom there were so many people who were just plain awful and rude, I’m afraid to say. I got so fed up of seeing people on the kinkmeme attack Kay Faraday after AAI came out in particular. And while it was disappointing to leave after contributing so much to the kinkmeme, I didn’t feel comfortable staying there knowing that people like that were judging me just for liking Kay. On top of that, while Apollo Justice remains one of my favourite games, I’m not fond of the direction that the series has taken from AA5 onwards. So I think it’s easier just to leave my experiences of AA back in the days when I enjoyed the games more than I do now.
for the character, luke triton
How I feel about this character: Luke is just absolutely perfect. In my eyes he's by far the most sympathetic and consistently written of all the main cast. I guess because he's just a kid I feel a lot stronger for him when he goes through struggles than I do for Layton or Emmy, even though they both have a lot of touching scenes as well. Luke is just such a good character and I think the ending of Azran Legacy highlighted a lot of his bravery and how amazing it makes him.All the people I ship romantically with this character: ...Okay, Luke/Aurora won me over in the end. I can't help it, they're just so tragic and cute! I also quite like the idea of pairing Luke with Bonnie, Crow or Badger. Obviously all these ships are based when the characters involved are older than they are in the games though. My non-romantic OTP for this character: Luke & literally everyone he makes friends with is a precious platOTP.My unpopular opinion about this character: You know, I'm not sure I have one. I don't ship Luke/Flora as a romantic ship if that counts? One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: That we got to see what happened after the 'To be continued...' from the end of PL3! I want to see Luke and Layton team up to solve mysteries once again! My OTP: Luke/AuroraMy OT3: Luke/Crow/Badger
