Buffy the Vampire Slayer 4.04 | Fear Itself
I’m cookie dough. I’m not done baking. I’m not finished becoming who ever the hell it is I’m gonna turn out to be. I make it through this, and the next thing, and the next thing, and maybe one day, I turn around and realize I’m ready. I’m cookies. And then, you know, if I want someone to eat or enjoy warm, delicious, cookie me, then that’s fine. That’ll be then. When I’m done.

the cool thing about btvs is that the gimmick episodes are often actually plot significant. like i'm not opposed to taking a break from the rest of the season to do a lil alternate universe romp or what have you, but btvs throws important stuff in there too and i just think that's fun. the wish is probably the least loadbearing concept episode and it still introduced a significant character. hush, superstar, restless, once more with feeling, tabula rasa, normal again - all feature some kind of gimmick that on another show might just be an episodic adventure but they're unskippable. there are almost no "wasted" episodes on this show, even the ones that would normally take you out of the main plot
