i know it’s never too late and SOMETHING can always be done to address climate change but i genuinely can’t hear about extreme weather events without wanting to vomit these days

like, mentally, i’m not with the doomsday people and i think talking about it as if it’s too late only serves to justify inaction and serves as a form of apologism for those in power who do not and did not do anything

but… emotionally?? when i see news about highest recorded temperatures or loss of sea ice or flooding in places that have never seen it before… well, i’m killing myself

things do feel like It’s Over even when i know they don’t have to be but as a fairly powerless layperson… being incapable of actually enacting change really isn’t helping!!!! like… not even personal action makes me feel better because i’ll put some plastic in the recycling and remember how inefficient and ineffective plastic recycling is and i’ll feel even worse than before
