sorry rare bts rant moment but I just read that interview where the members talk about having to fight with BigHit execs to get more Korean lyrics on the album because “if they want to be more global they have to try to sing in English” and that exec specifically points out BLACK SWAN of all songs to be the kind of writing they should avoid because it’s not “relatable” enough and like. idk how I can still be shocked by shit like this but oh okay not even their own team understands how they actually became famous in the first place. BTS, the band who built the entire basis of their original fame with a catalog of often hyperspecific songs about their very niche experience of trying to come up in an idol industry dominated by corporate giants they were not yet a part of. okay. the relatability actually comes from the desperation to make your dreams come true before you believe you’re too old to grasp onto them and then realizing once you have them that it actually still sucks and you sometimes don’t remember what you worked so hard for but sure swim’s lyrics are certainly more. digestible. God I hate it here.
