so, after losing all my tray files, I had to remake my story characters.  here’s the re-make of the characters in this post.  As you can see, Kayden (bottom left) is the most different.  His hair might still change, but in terms of face and tattoos, I like this version of him almost a bit better??  And I’m still not happy with Emery’s nose, but the creator deleted the preset, so...

The bit where you write about 47 wondering how to spell Kayden, and then play with virtually every possible spelling in the narration... I hope you enjoyed writing that bit as much as I enjoyed reading it. I would like more sly Fedeau humor in my books please and thank you

i proofread all my stuff by reading it out loud to my mother, and when that scene passed the laugh test with her, i knew i should keep it in. my other editing rubric for death and orchids - specifically the story-within-a-story parts - was “if it makes me laugh or groan, keep it in, it’s working.”

i grew up in an upper-middle-class neighborhood, so let’s just say i’m seeing some, uh, unusual baby name choices on facebook as my old classmates and i get into our mid- and late-twenties LOL
