I don’t think any of the characters are human. I think all the “human” characters are just brain scans of the original uploaded into the circus. That’s why the headset at the end of the first episode is placed neatly on the table instead of on the floor or the face of a comatose person

can someone who understands the original Chinese/is further ahead in the drama explain what they mean when the subs say that Xie Wei has 'dementia'? Why would giving blood help? He seemed like having a sort of attack, which I would associate with a past trauma more (since what we have seen of the 'dementia' and his reaction to the cat seems to indicate he repressed what happened when he tried to pass himself off as the crown prince to the rebellion leader as a child)

I did wonder if they'd hold off for ep2 because it's implied there's a twist in the premiere - and I figure that's why we are only getting drip fed very little actual content ! Not sure if they've ever done that though, like for 4x13-4x14 did they omit details about eddie in the weeks leading up?

You're good! It's something I introduced fairly recently so I'm just trying to mention it when I can so people are aware of it. The way the synopsis are typically released is by airing week. Fox posts all the synopsis for all their shows airing on x week in one press release (not all networks do it like this but some do). So no matter what's happening in what show, it'll get posted.

Using 4x13 and 4x14 as an example like you mentioned, this was the 4x14 synopsis and it was posted before 4x13 aired:

"In the aftermath of the shooting, Athena and the 118 are on high alert when a sniper is targeting members of the LAFD. Meanwhile, Maddie makes a life decision."
