Hello omg I'm sorry I never saw this! Here is a link to the edit for those curious.

I relied primarily on the rectangle tool and use of the clipping mask. I chose my background (white) and put in a number of rectangles of different sizes all with a small outline of about one pixel.

I then just pasted the image of Storm I wanted to use and clipped it to every square using the clipping mask. I kept one image of her underneath the squares so I could keep her legible while still using the squares to disrupt things. I also was careful which which squares I wanted to overlap which ones, just to keep things interesting. It is a lot of layers, though; here's a few of mine.

As you can see, a lot of these are in very slightly different positions and sizes but roughly are the same; it looks a bit odd I find if you move too many too far away from the rest of the image or make one part drastically bigger than the others, but that's just my preference.

The rest then was just my textures & my text. I hope this helps, sorry it took me so long to answer!

someone asked me for a tutorial of the sticker effect from this diana edit, so here's one! this works either on photoshop or photopea, i'm sure you can get similar effects with other apps though.

i'm using this wanda art by pepe larraz for this effect. after placing her into a panel, i'm going to add a white stroke on the outside at around 25 pixels, but more or less depending on the side of your image. i may also make a new layer behind her, and fill in any gaps with a hard white brush and either link the layers or merge them.

next, i apply a white crumpled paper texture (specifically one without paper folds) on top with the clipping mask and with blending mode set to multiply. you might want to play around with the opacity.

back on the wanda layer, i add a drop shadow. my effects are blend mode; multiply & colour black, angle 125, distance 15, spead 0 and size 25, but you can experiment as you see fit.

i merge / rasterize the layers, and duplicate the layer so i have one in each corner! as a bonus, i also add a glittery texture on the front, usually overlay at around 50% opacity and also one on the background :) this was my final image!

Hi! I'm using photopea but it should work pretty well in photoshop.

First I get my text layer. I'm using underrated, but any thick, sans serif font will do the trick. After making your text, duplicate it and merge the two together. Keep the old text in case you decide you don't like the quote or whatever. You can also choose to make your layer into a smart object, but my laptop makes upset noises when I do that so I don't.

Next, you get your gradient map. You can use whatever colours or order you like, but here's the one I used.

After this, I angled my text and made another duplicate layer of it. Then, I started to use the liquify tool. You'll want to use a larger brush at around 300 px for the bigger text, and a smaller around 75 pc for the smaller text. Just gently pull along and make little shapes at the edges of the text, keeping it still readable. If you want you can lower the density to around 20 and mess around with the text to give it more of a warped look. The end result should look something like this:

Next, you want to add a blur. I used gaussian at 7.5, but other blur types & other numbers work fine, this is all just to taste. This is the result after the blur.

Obviously, this isn't very readable, which is why I duplicated the angled font before liquifying. Make it visible, and apply a milder blur to it, say, 2 on gaussian blur. This is much more readable.

This next step is optional, but afterwards I applied a noise effect to both layers on uniform, monochromatic and 10%. This is my final result!

I also added a texture on the black cat edit but that's more at your discretion :) hope this helps, let me know if you need further clarification :))

i forgot to talk about this in the original post i made, but it's important enough that i'm going to make a separate tutorial about it.

when editing, always try to use the largest image you can find. this is kind of a pet peeve of mine when sometimes i'll notice an image has been resized in an edit and is just not as high quality as it should be so IMO always try to get the largest size for best quality. additionally, try to keep a spare when editing! paste the image twice and use the one on top, in case you need to restart, you can do this quickly by dragging the layer to the "add layer" tab at the bottom of the layers menu, it automatically makes a copy.

to find a good image, first just search for what you want. for this, i'll search "invisible woman adam hughes" to get a bunch of art. i'm going to use the cover of issue 5 of the invisible woman run. by hovering over the first image i find, i can see the image resolution. this one is 325 by 500, and is too small to properly use.

so i'm going to right click and drag it into the search bar and use the google lens function to search online for other versions of this image.

this brings me to the image, with similar visual matches and information on sue. helpful, but not what i need. i'm going to click on "find image source" above the image.

this opens a new tab, where i have found various other sizes of the same image, as well as information on who is in the image (sue, in this case). i'm going to click on large!

this brings me here, with very large resolution images! the biggest here is 1,821 by 2,800, which is much better to work with!

larger images keeps everything nice and sharp, and cutting out looks much better when it's done with a big, high quality image as opposed to a smaller one. it's not the end of the world if you can't find anything large, but i'd say don't go any smaller than 450, as eventually you'll see the pixels if you resize and that doesn't look very good.
