ik you’re like me and music tends more towards an experience than anything else. at the end of the day, when music is THIS important to us, we’re going to be critical of it. consumption without criticism is so inherently harmful and is why, for a long time, you had movies dropping racial slurs and hate rhetoric casually all over without anyone saying much. you HAVE to consume media mindfully, especially in these times. and that goes beyond music too!

Right, and art in and of itself is political; is music not art? Is it not political to be the biggest American pop star right now, surround yourself with magas, and be not only painfully silent about very very pressing issues both nationally and globally, but then to take that a step further and claim that you love having cancelled friends. It doesn’t matter if it’s ironic or satirical, it’s a horrible time for her to release something like Cancelled even if that’s not what the song is about.
