hello allie my dear!    we’re going to do things a little differently this time. since you already know a lot about these people i’m just going to break them up into sections and then ramble. just remember that this is their   main   verse ( in colorado, with zomboobs ) and stuff in the beautiful modern verse is   slightly   different, though not too much            and also fuck you i still can’t believe you’ve done this.

BENNET JACOB KEENE, 72   ( ben            father, grandfather )

Ben is the sort of guy i honestly can’t make interesting. he started working young, married young, became a father young, and was fairly good at all three things. he was a firm believer in spanking his kids, and made most of the final decisions in his household, but no one would ever describe him as cruel. he has ( had, rip ) a good sense of humor, which was much needed when shit went down in colorado.

THEODORE NICHOLAS KEENE, 50   ( theo, teddy            father, son, brother )

Theo. Teddy. Sweet Teddy Bear. the way he came into the world was practically an apology to his mother, two hours into labor he popped out in only a few pushes and was an oddly well behaved baby from that point on            unlike his brother, but we’ll get to him in a while. 

teddy was a sweet kid, well liked in the neighborhood,   probably   the first kid in town to start games of   ‘doctor’   in hidden spots on the playground. once in school he didn’t wow the teachers, but he didn’t fall behind either. he was a smart enough kid with a good head on his shoulders, but his sense of apathy about the whole thing made it hard for him to be anything other than middle of the pack. in high school he started working in restaurants, and by the time graduation rolled around it was clear that cooking was what he’d wind up doing with his life            not because he had a passion for it, but because he was good at it, he   did   enjoy it,  and there was no reason not to do it.

by his early thirties teddy was married and running a small kitchen in rockport. the family was on vacation when the outbreak hit, and unfortunately his   ( first )   wife died            but teddy is a lover, and a lover’s gotta love, ya feel? wife #2 wasn’t a wife legally, but they knew what was up. he didn’t start over with her, but he did start something new, and with that something new came a baby boy named riley. unfortunately, again, the wife bit it and lefty teddy heartbroken with a toddler to look after.    

colorado: theo does most of the cooking, some agricultural work, and is also who most see as being in charge, even though he’s technically only 1/3 of the power. 

NATHANIEL TIMOTHY KEENE, 50    ( nate            son, brother, uncle )

Nate was born second, obviously, and the little shit wouldn’t turn so mommy had to have an emergency c-section   AFTER   having already given birth. that pretty much sums up the pain in the ass he’d be for the rest of his life if we’re being honest. he was never a   bad   kid, he just didn’t listen. unless you had a damn good reason to tell him not to do something, and unless you shared that reason, he wasn’t going to give you the time of day. he was always   so sure   that he knew what he was doing, and unfortunately nothing bad ever came of that fact so there was never a chance to correct it.

being a smart ass was one thing, but as it turned out he was   actually a smart ass,   as in   -   the little bastard was brainy. needing to be right and wanting people to know about it lead to good grades in school, which in turn lead to nate being the first in his family to receive a college education. he may have been the loud one, and he may have come off as a slacker at times, but he did alright for himself.

nate never settled down, he had serious girlfriends here and there but it never felt right enough to fully commit.

colorado: as of right now nate is in charge of treatment and medical supplies, as well as helping with security.

RILEY MARINER KEENE, 9   ( rye            son, grandson, nephew ) 

Riley is ( as you already know ) Theo’s son, but he’s a little more like his uncle than he is his dad. had he not grown up around nate that probably wouldn’t be the case, but as it is he thinks uncle nate is way cooler than boring stupid dad, so why wouldn’t he rather be like him? the kid likes reading, like the animals on their property, and getting to see the neighboring communities even though they hardly ever let him go.
