#19. Miss Kitab
Ever since the day that I met you
My world’s been spinning out of control
I just need you to hold
*clic*I’m gonna leave you with the nice song that inspired me for this*clic*
Ok I’m obv all for anything that undermines the agent orange administration but just, I’m way more concerned with Sessions taking full advantage of his power to enact his racist agenda than I am with whether Russia hacked the election with or without Trump’s cronies’ foreknowledge / whether the Comey firing was a coverup or just a petty personal vendetta. I just wish the outrage were directed more consistently at tangible harm to vulnerable populations rather than so much energy spent freaking out over broken norms or scandals that have such little bearing on this administration's material impact
Could you translate some of the jutsu from the older databooks i.e. Sly Mind Affect Jutsu, Puppet Jutsu, Four Black Fogs Formation & Demonic Flute: Illusionary Warriors Manipulating Melody? There are links to some decent raws on the Naruversity's databook/fanbook section.
Eeh, sure, I’ll put them on my to do list, I’ll translate them as soon as I can (between the Konoha Shinden updates). Thanks for the info about the raws, the only ones I managed to find so far aren’t really good, so it’s nice to know ^-^
Life’s been kind hectic later (I managed to find some real Japanese lessons, they take me two days a week - less time to translate - but I’m gonna improve my spoken skills finally!), but I’ll find some time to translate them as well *thumbs up with ‘nice guy’ pose*
“This is going nowhere,” he says. He walks into her office precisely when the appointment was meant to start and skips the greeting. He’s not usually so rude. Lauren’s annoyed, but keeps her expression neutral.
“Hello, Henry. Good to see you.”
He pauses, then, “Hello. Sorry. I’ve been thinking all week. And sorry for wasting your time, but this isn’t going anywhere.”
“You haven’t wasted my time. Please, sit down. Do you want anything to drink today?”
Her newest client is someone she’s paid a lot of attention to in the news, always sort of half-hoping that he might find her. Not necessarily because she had a personal investment in him, but he was famous for his.... illness. If there was anyone who needed what Miguel and she were trying to do, it was him. But she was nonetheless surprised to see Henry Pym walk into their office.
“Uh... hello? I’m looking for a Dr. Richardson and a Mr. Reyes. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to call or not.”
Lauren stood and held out her hand. “I’m Dr. Richardson, how can I help you?” Even though she recognized him, she didn’t comment; he would introduce himself when he felt like it.
“I’m Henry Pym... I heard about you from a young man who goes by Trauma. I’m looking for a psychologist.” He was stiff, uneasy.
“Well, you found one.” She smiled, hoping to relax him with a bit of humor.
“Seems like it. Uh...” He didn’t seem to have relaxed much. “I’ve never... done this before. Had to pick a shrink, I mean. All the ones I’ve seen before were... picked for me.”
...being forced to see psychologists would explain his discomfort.
“It can be a very daunting task. I can help you narrow down your criteria, if you want. I know several other psychologists practicing in this area, if me and Miguel aren’t right for you.”
“I know what I need. I’ve been doing some research.” He crossed his arms. “Can I meet Miguel, too? I’d like to get a feel for both of you.”
“Of course.” She called Miguel out of his office and the three of them chatted for a while. Henry eventually settled on her, Miguel seemed too “touchy feely” for him. And Lauren could more expertly recommend medication.
And so that was settled. Now it’s their first official appointment together and Henry’s just as stiff and nervous as the day he first walked through their door. It’s not the best sign, but most people are like this their first day. In time, he’ll get more comfortable with her.
But the next week, he’s still having trouble figuring out how to talk to her. And the week after that, he’s wary at the idea of medication. And the week after that, he spends the entire hour sitting quietly, staring at her.
He’s not her first difficult client. They can work through this.
session 2
subject withholds information concerning his parents, especially his father. unconsciously repressing memories/emotions suggests subject harbors anger, hurt, blame, and perhaps even guilt about his mother's death and his father's disappearance.
subject seems to view it as unwillingness to talk rather than repression.
raising younger brother raleigh seems to have heightened his protective nature. very concerned with raleigh's welfare, happiness, and safety. borders on parental.
subject exposed father's childhood nickname for him was "kid" or "kiddo". this was passed down to his younger brother.
