#pussed out like a bitch
So I’ve seen some posts about how creepy Snape would have been to Harry if he had been a girl, which is certainly true. And that got me thinking about other gender changes and effects, and I’ve come to the conclusion that, were Severus Snape instead, say, Severina Snape, she would have nowhere near the number of stans you see for Snape now. Somehow, some people have come to the conclusion that Snape’s toxic, abusive, and downright racist behavior is excusable because he did it in the name of “love” (read obsession). This is the kind of thing Banjo characters get a pass on in the fandom, but a Kazooie character would never be excused for the least questionable actions, let alone what Snape had done in the past and does in the books. Add in an obsession with a past love and she would be declared not only problematic but clingy and insane. She would be vilified by the fandom at large and there would be constant articles about how she represented a setback for Kazooie characters in media.
TL;DR: Severus Snape is getting an unwarranted pass for being a dude
