Winter Frost
@springcanwait
It had been about a year since Queen Elsa’s coronation, and while Killian had been employed as one of her many guards for about as long, he had not once, save for formal greetings, spoken to His Majesty. Not uncommon. There was a respectful distance that needed to be maintained, and with how elusive the Queen was, even such formalities were rare.
It was a pattern that would have to be shattered this afternoon.
Killian had always noted that the castle was a strange one. Vast, grand and proud- yet severely lacking of any sign of warmth, aside from Princess Anna. But physically speaking, he had noticed that there were times when a certain chill would spread. Frosted glass, exhalation of breath coming out as wisps of white, occasional evidences of what appeared to be snow.
All of this, despite the warm summer weather beyond the stone walls.
He had always brushed these off. Pinned a few to his imagination too, but today, he could not quite do the same. For there was a sleet of ice radiating from under the Queen’s door, spreading towards the lush carpet.
But more than that, there was an unrelenting chill in the air. One that bit, cutting directly into his bones. What in the world--?!
His first instinct was to seek the Queen. Ensure she was safe.
“Your Majesty, are you alright?!” Quick, panicked raps against the door. The guard was fairly certain that she had not ventured out of her chambers. What the devil-- The ice thickened- was this? “Are you in there?”
